I recently had the anniversary of finishing this design in wax. I was inspired by one of the plaster ceilings at The Breakers, and the Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris. I shared the inspirational photos of the stained glass and carved wooden trefoil details inside the cathedral less than 24 hours before it burned. The world mourned the loss of an iconic landmark. Remember when we were sad and agreed about what seemed like such a simple thing? Most would agree that, speaking historically and of the art history in such a monumental place and the surrounding fire damage in Paris, the world had lost something. The world is such a different place now. I'm not sure it's better or worse. People are mourning loss and losses of people now. The disease in our streets prevents gatherings and memorials to process grief. We are starving ourselves of the healing in groups that could be beneficial to so many, to BENEFIT the health of so many. It's hard to wrap your brain around it all in your house, isolated. In a way, the USA feels both unsettled in anger, and like spring cleaning. I hope this is a stage like the purging of things after the ugly and sudden end of a relationship or friendship. I hope we can move on, pick up all of our pieces and shore ourselves up again as a nation and as neighbors. As communities. I'm aiming for us to move forward as decent humans. But I hope as friends, too. Hello friend. Tell me about yourself. #hellofriend #pickupourpieces #moveforwardtogether #wecanbebetter #beagoodhuman (at Enterprise, Alabama) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCXxIRwANBa/?igshid=1887a526rhf1s
