Iron Lung Notes!
1: His wrists are roughed up from handcuffs
2: Eden and The COI are at odds (the fathers speech at the beginning mentions the COI not sharing their findings and Simon mentions the COI making him burn off his eden tattoo, not in reference to his conviction, Eden obviously doesn't believe there's anything to find to save humanity)
3: He has a length of string around his wrist with a broken loop attached, and the scene where he finds his pendant alludes to it previously being attached to that loop
4: He's rational in most situations and can take a lot before he begins to crumble. He gets angry but most often for good reason. (Though, he's less rational if it means survival, for example the water and the isopropyl. ) Even when in need of some sort of comfort and offered a voice to keep him company, he acknowledges that he's likely concussed or experiencing a more logical phenomenon. Even when reality begins to crumble, he asks questions to parse through what's reality and what's not.
5: He self-soothes often, whether with the knife sheath or the pendant or breathing routines. It makes sense considering he seems to resent his own anger.
6: He's resourceful, likely stemming from a childhood and adulthood having to care for and fend for himself, whether through the rapture or after being imprisoned. Either way, he makes do with whatever he can get.
7: It may be a coincidence, but at full speed, the ships throttle looks like the Eden symbol.
8: He tries both "password" and "password1" on the sm8 blackbox programme, before trying "fuck you" when it doesn't work. When he gets angry, it says "I'm sorry butcher".
9: He ultimately cares a lot, maybe too much given his reality. He apologises even in situations where he's justified, and he apologises to inanimate objects. Either he's deeply remorseful, or offers everything else what he needs.
10: "I see you." "I see you." "Agreed." Three different voices. The first seems to be the eel, the second is Simon, who is the third?
11: The figure Simon sees after the interaction with the light is himself, after his mutations take full effect. The teeth on the side of the face, the missing left arm, and the shape of the nose give it away.
12: His hair is either braided or twisted into the half ponytail he wears it in
13: His mothers voice is a part of the cacophony when he's navigating back to the sm8. Her lines include "they have a tree" "it'll feel just like home" "you'll love it there". As well, another voice (likely Ava) says someone confiscate something and that "they hope to make a garden of their own someday". She likely is referencing the seedlings like Simon carries, which likely implies they're a symbol many or all members of Eden carry.
14: When heading down to get Simon, Ava tells David to ready the 14, meaning there's another and possibly more subs ready and waiting every time one is sent down.
15: The blood gets progressively more corrosive as time goes on, as seen by how his arms slowly become more damaged but one drip almost immediately burns into his forehead. This could help explain how he rips his own arm off to save himself.
16: At the end, the seedling in Simon's pendant grows due to the blood and sprouts into a tree, through the sub and the eel, effectively exploding both. This as well proves the accelerating strength of the blood. (I also believe the blood is the antagonist in the movie, not the eel. The eel is a byproduct of it.)
If you want to, send me asks about any of these and I'll yap lol
mona lisa smile is such a beautiful movie. all red brown, orange glow, pastel yellow, deep purple. heart-warming and optimist although not all characters figure out things for themselves. i like how the main character is also on her journey to build a life out of convention, fumbling with fear, doubt, anxiety, stubborness and biases; but also with great love for arts, inspiration, caring, and loving. i think it hits a raw nerve when her lover told her that she tries to appeal the students to her life choices, not to guide them to choose their best paths. because it's true. she's desperate to find others who are similar to her temperament and vision, because it's such a lonely world when you have to be the first in everything. she doesn't understand the multitude of people's differences either, not until her favourite student told her to backoff and respect her choice to raise a family, not until she saw different versions of van gogh's sunflowers the students paint despite the same canvas, not until she saw how betty changes and becomes so much closer to herself by the end. i think she learns that she doesn't have to be always the same, or always different, just always changes to the need of her life, and that's beautiful!
and elton makes your heart sing with this tune:
Kpop Demon Hunters - I actually might rewrite this thing because of all the ways it could have been fixed and flowed better
My Notes:
Kill demon king = demon get free will
Her dad a demon = he freed himself who was he? Where is he? Doesn't that mean demons who break free can/do have a shot at redemption
Her adoptive mother never brought up again hello? Accept or not that history of hunters can't just be erased? Also needed more interactions between the mom and daughter
Rumi came clean her girl friends would accept her not shun her
They were hypocritical
All three girls felt like an outcast in some form they would have accepted Rumis secret
Rumis secret as a half demon should have been a show don't tell, her quietly going into her own bath while the girls go to the bathhouse
The point of no return for her trio was raising a weapon to her after revealing she was a half demon, tf they were literally just running to save her
Can't come back from that unless you have deep convo and act of service
___
The guy should have seem rumi as his younger sister not weird lover maybe since you know 400 year old with way to much baggage and not enough intertwined with plot flow
Aka his redemption would have been being the older brother to the sister he lost
He lost his little sister? Rumi there
He lost his mother? Rumi adoptive mother there who he helps accept her OR IF NOT he stands up for Rumi as a older sibling and becomes the person she can rely on
He brings up points like:
Was her father not a demon? Do you believe all of us the same?
He could have been an ancestor of Rumi via his little sister and show how deep it goes - older sibling
Also his memories could have been altered by the demon king, that should have been a tell not show because it got messy as to what was real and what wasn't, as he spends more time with Rumi he realizes as such
Small tid bit "my little sister loved birds and cats..." could have been awesome
___
From idol award to tree scene tonal shift was intense and actually good
- older sibling on cinematic of movie
Would have been good if they had the tonal delivery of ultraman
the balance of humor and serious sincerity
Watching Event Horizon for the first time for Day 3 of watching spooky movies for Halloween week.
My notes:
piper's very high thunderbirds (2004) notes
if theyre a oeaceful rescue NGO why are they not able to have their names public?? WHO??? are their enemies?
“diaper boy” (8:27)
why does a peaceful rescue organization need an UNDER COVER AGENT??????? WHAT?!!?!
GOOP MISSILE??? <11:29>
<12:30> no way a rocket shaped like that can sustain in atmoshpere level flight THAT slow… thunderbird 2 i could excuse as having some kind of aerofoil shape allowing that slow of a speed to keep up with the Lady’s dinky little single turbofan jetcar
sausagefest bradybunch
<14:22> jorts jumpscare really got me
oh her phone is so cunty
what makes this guy think he has the authority to solve an arson????
vanessa hudgens???
“dad, youve done a great job since mom died” 1: fucked up thing to say to your dad. 2: this script must have been written by a widowed father who doesn’t feel appreciated and wanted a self insert moment
spy kids 2 era of visual effects really at its most mid
wait so uncle is bad guy? does that mean
oh fuck i got another slice of pizza and its what i needed
bad guys were just going to burn children???? like fully cook them to death?
oh ithe retainer scene just connected some wires in my brain and i just remembered seeing a part of this movie while channel surfing circa 2007
main character is such a dipshit and asshole
HER CUNTY FRUTIGER AERO WATCH????!!!!!?!?!?!
<1:01:49> i like that the graphic designers made the navigation UI plot the correct aeronautical courses accounting for the curvature of the earth as if they were geodesically projected on the mercator map navigation map that the ships use. Kinda fucked up though that the thunderbirds use WGS84 as a projected coordinate system for orbital navigation
you can tell that this is a post 911 movie because, while piloted by the bad guy, thunderbird 2 was perfectly lined up for a full throttle collision with the london eye. showing more restraint than i would be capable of, the bad guy landed thunderbird 2 with causing no more damage to public property than crushing a food stand.
they then elected to destroy the supports of an elevated monorail, while harming the fewest number of people while facing at big ben. again a pretty well restrained terrorist attack.
wizard battle at the end???
the wizard.
how does this NGO get funded?? who is paying for all this rocket and jet fuel???
POP PUNK OUTRO SONG??
JUST FINISHED NIMONA AND I HAVE FEELINGS
"The Hating Game" Movie Notes
- they got Josh completely wrong.
- I suppose he looks the part, but his voice is totally wrong and the actor can't act. Every time "Josh" speaks, all I hear is one of those teen tiktok stars attempting to act. Bad. Not good. Did no one rethink this?
- Lucy is fine but they made her too normal and glam
- Lucy was supposed to be weird. And she isn't. She's just ~quirky~, which is wrong.
-And! She seems happy enough by herself here! She wasn't in the book and it was IMPORTANT. To her CHARACTER.
- They added Christmas??? Just because it came out in December, doesn't mean it has to take place in December.
- Paintball fighting in the snow sounds like hell in hell and didn't look good either.
- there'll be some random stock footage at times? It's a little weird and jarring.
- they did make Danny weirder and kind of funnier
- it's just falling flat. On its metaphorical face.
- The movie was pretty good in the first half and then it got bad. Maybe because Josh is speaking more now.
- they fucked with the plot. Reshuffled some events. To make it standard. Disappointing.
- what's with the standard man-in-a-winter-romcom look of some kind of suit looking coat (unbuttoned) plus untied scarf. What is that. Aren't you cold?? Then just don't wear the scarf!
- really. No kidding, Josh's actor sucks.
- soundtrack is perhaps a saving grace.
