Lost My Home Again: May Update
Recap: Back in mid-March, my current landlord gave me official notice that they will be terminating my lease for my apartment (no specific reason why)
Current State:
- I've applied to at least 14 places in total so far, whose monthly rent would be completely covered by my housing voucher; still haven't been accepted anywhere
- Even though my housing voucher guarantees consistent, full rent payments every month, all the agencies and realtors I've applied to so far have either ghosted me, or rejected my application for the same 2 reasons:
A) Lack of income outside my voucher (I've tried explaining that I can't work due to disability)
B) Low credit score due to student debt
- I've been so busy trying to get approved by anyone that I haven't had a chance to apply for financial aid from local non-profits to help cover security deposit costs (I might not even be able to apply until after I get accepted somewhere)
- I have to leave my current apartment at the end of this month (May 31st, 2026); if I'm unable to secure a new rental before then, I have no where to go (no friends or family nearbye that can help me)
- I'm genuinely sad and terrified about potentially being homeless again, and possibly losing the majority of my belongings this time
