MK had been worried at first. The guy who had introduced himself as Gunhee seemed a little… unapproachable. Although that could have been because of his abrupt comment about his coffee and the fact that he looked absolutely exhausted. But after Gunhee took a few sips of his drink he suddenly became talkative.
In fact, he began to ramble to the point that MK forgot he was supposed to be evaluating whether to invite the guy over for a tour. Eventually, he remembered, and cut the conversation short.
“So d’you wanna see the place?”
After the tour, MK knew immediately he had found the right guy. He didn’t want to scare his best prospect off, but the sooner he got someone to move in, the sooner he could lift some of the burden of rent from his parents. So he pulled up his laptop and sent a message to Gunhee.
Hey – Just wanted to let you know say tell you that I’ve thought about considered your application to be my roommate, and I don’t want to sound to hasty, but I accept, provided you’re still okay with my terms. ₩500,000 per month, no pets, no smoking.
As he wrote, he realized he was neglecting to tell the other man something very important about himself, but MK pushed those thoughts aside. It’s not like I’ll have time for a boyfriend with all the work I’ve got going on for school. If it comes up later, well… he shook his head. He didn’t have time for negativity right now. Back to the email.
Can you move in by the 15th? Then you’ll only have to be able to pay half for the first month, how does that sound? Let me know ASAP Please let me know. – MK
Without thinking about it any further, MK crossed his fingers and clicked ‘Send.’

Gunhee had quietly sipped his coffee… for about five minutes. Then he couldn’t hold back any longer.
“You’re an artist right? So you understand what it’s like to work late hours too. You see, I work full-time at a bar, so I’d be home late most of the time. I hope that’s okay, I mean, I’m quiet when it’s late like that but I have to confess something else.”
He looked around to make sure no one was listening. After scanning the room, he lowered his voice and said,
“You see, I’m practicing to become an idol trainee. I know, I know, I’m a little old for it. Born in ’94, so I’m actually older than you too… did I mention that? Anyway, I’m really serious. So during the day I’ll probably be practicing my vocals… sometimes dance. If it bothers you, I can probably find a studio to rent somewhere – I mean, at the price you’re offering for rent, I bet I could afford it, but –“
MK was smiling. He cut Gunhee’s chain of thought short and asked, “So d’you wanna see the place?”
After touring the building, Gunhee was awestruck. Why on earth couldn’t a nice guy who lived in an ideal location with an apartment like that get a roommate? But he didn’t pry, even if he should have. He just left casually for work and hoped for the best. He’d been honest about his lifestyle, and that was all he could do.
So later on his break, when he received an email from MK asking when he could move in, he did a fist pump. In real life. The other workers in the break room may have stared, but Gunhee was thrilled. He immediately typed back a response.
Absolutely. I’ll move in Saturday the 15th. Can’t wait. See you then.

Gunhee was exhausted. After months of looking for a roommate through work acquaintances and recommendations from the servers at his grandparents’ tea shop, he had finally resorted to online want ads. He was skeptical of all of them. Some of them because they exaggerated how clean the place was. Others because they wouldn’t post pictures. Still others were out-of-reach because they were asking more in rent than he was already paying. So when he saw a listing for ₩500,000 per month in a very well situated condo, he almost passed it up. Too good to be true.
But maybe he had had one-too-many coffees one afternoon, or gotten one less hour of sleep one night, and he ended up sending a very hesitantly worded email to the ₩500,000 posting, fingers crossed.
He got a reply from someone who seemed very enthusiastic even across the internet, which should have set further alarm bells off in Gunhee’s head, but he decided to ignore that and take a chance. The poster wanted to meet for coffee right beside the listed condo’s address. He’d be able to see the neighbourhood and get his afternoon caffeine, so how could he say no?
The day of the meeting came and Gunhee found himself on the bus to the café in a ragged black hoodie and jeans. Maybe not the best first-impression outfit. Maybe not an outfit he should still be wearing, since he woke up in these clothes and didn’t have time to change. But he had showered after work last night so he couldn’t look too unkept, right? Nonetheless, there was no changing now.
Gunhee got off the bus and took the short walk to the café. Inside, he tried to stay calm and ordered an extra large coffee, triple cream and triple sugar. As he waited for his drink, he felt eyes on him and knew that someone in the room was waiting – had they figured him out? He took his coffee, turned around, and–
A bright, blonde-haired young man was staring at him and appeared to be suppressing a smile. Remembering how enthusiastic the emails had been, Gunhee went with his gut and began to approach this man’s table. He barely reached the seat when the man spoke, asking if he was here applying to be roommates.
“Wow,” said Gunhee, “do you read minds? Yeah, I’m Gunhee. You must be MK. Give me a minute to sit down and drink this coffee, and then we can talk all about the arrangement.”

MK was nervous. Very nervous, in fact, which was a little unlike his usual bubbly and outgoing self. He had posted online seeking a roommate a month ago and had several responses (probably because he was only asking ₩500,000 per month to share his two bedroom condo in Gangnam). He usually met prospectives in the café beside his building to get a feel for their personality before inviting them on a tour, but it often didn’t make it that far. The artist was having terrible luck scouting potential roommates.
The last guy who had replied showed up with two dogs because MK had failed to specify he did not want the responsibility of pets. The guy before him had smelled too strongly of cologne and had insisted he would only be bringing a female guest with him “on occasion.” How hard could it be to find a roommate who was relatively quiet and didn’t come with add-ons?
So when a tired-looking young man in a black hoodie and jeans walked into the café alone, MK paid little attention to him. Clearly the next roommate applicant was going to be someone who wanted to set up a greenhouse in the living room or something, not someone that normal. It wasn’t until the guy turned around and pulled off his hood that MK noticed he was actually very good-looking. Right, well, MK’s luck was not that good. So it definitely couldn’t be –
The man started walking toward MK’s table. Oh god, oh god, he noticed me staring at him. There’s no other reason for a guy like him to be coming over here. But even as MK’s thoughts scattered, the man kept walking until he made it to MK’s table.
“You… aren’t here… for the roommate application, by any chance, are you?” MK asked, flinching a little as he did so.

Moving In ; Amiyah & Harrison
Amiyah was driving her car with her things she wanted to bring, along with the moving truck following her. The two decided to bring the things they felt like they would need and give the rest to their own family, that way they could buy their own furniture and other items they would need together. Two of her dogs were barking happily in the front seat as they seem eager to be going to a new home. By the time she got there she noticed Harrison’s car and the moving truck he had follow him already there. She then parked and helped her little dogs out, holding onto their leashes before making her way overt to Harrison. “Hey.”
