Every now and then I think of the time when I was staying at a hotel with my partner and friends. We wanted to watch anime but the smart tvs in the room were setup with a four digit admin pin that prevented downloading any other apps.

After everyone gave up at that, I thought to myself:

“If I was a hotel that had perhaps hundreds of smart tvs to setup, I would just get one of the young guys on staff with the most techie vibe to do it.”

After that I thought:

“If I was a young guy with hundreds of smart TVs to setup, what would I set the pin as?”

A shortlist of numbers came to mind, but one stood out ahead of the rest.

I grab the remote from the person trying to find something bearable to watch, go to the app downloader and hit the pin screen.

The app starts downloading and we watch anime like the nerds we are.

I don’t feel anyone that was with me was impressed enough for the deduction, but I chalk it up to the fact that it was just a blindsidingly brilliant attempt on the first go.
