                  the small girl, barely older than ten but hardly looking it, clad in messy clothes and clearly underweight, continued to make the smallest sketches on the paper the orphanage gave her. in the corner of the little drawing, was written her name in messy handwriting.

‘verbena, age 10.’

all her drawings were of the children who she knew, one of which being of a blonde girl she couldn’t seem to part with. with soft, rose coloured eyes moving back and forth from the young, greyish haired man to her paper, she seemed to be doing a small drawing of him, perhaps to give?

once she finishes, she holds up the drawing in gives him a smile, though she still seems a little upset.

“for you! my friend and i are gonna be adopted soon by some nice man, so i wanted to give goodbye presents to everyone!” innocence was bliss, and nobody could tell her at that point that the man she was talking about was perhaps one of the most disgusting people on the planet.
