I IZ MOVED-D!
Good Morning, my little Sparklenauts! It’s Wednesday, June 22–and most of you who follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are aware WE FINALLY GOT TO THE NEW HOUSE!
Wow…that was the WORST. MOVE. EVER. After going back and forth with the moving company over email weeks ago on how many trucks we would need/people–they were LATE 8 HOURS on Monday.
(ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻
We called their office MULTIPLE times trying to figure out what-the-hell was going on, and were given every excuse ranging from “They can’t find your house” to “They’re running a little behind this morning but should be there within the hour.” Keep in mind, the branch they were coming from was 45 mins. from my house…
We scheduled everything in the morning because it was going to be an 8-9 hour drive (usually takes around 7 hours, but Hubster was towing a small u-haul trailer that contained things that we didn’t trust the movers with/things we needed to unbox first) so when 8:30a rolled around (they said they’d be there between 8:30a-9a) we were ready to roll. All the food and perishables were in coolers on dry ice, the trailer was packed, snack boxes were made for each vehicle, walkie-talkies were a go…..and no movers.
So we waited and called–still no movers.
Waited and called several more times–still NO MOVERS.
FINALLY, around 2p we hear from someone at the their corporate office that the drivers were on their way–then gave us their contact info so we could call them directly.
Long story short–someone dropped the ball. They had nothing scheduled for us on Monday.
щ(ಠ益ಠщ)
No drivers, no trucks–the 2 beefy dudes that did help us out were called in on their day off to take care of us.
At this point, it’s 4p–and because we have about $700 of food on ice that’s not going to last much longer, we HAVE to drive through the night to get to the new house in Ohio. Which is fine for me–as most of you know, I have hardcore insomnia that I’ve been battling since high school–but it’s not so good for Hubster. He gets up about 6a every morning and is in bed by 10p.
SOooo–it took us about 12 hours to get here. We stopped a couple of times for food/pee breaks/gas/sleep for a couple of hours. I have to say–SO IMPRESSED/PROUD of my children!! Kid_3 is with her grandparents this week, so Kid_1 ( @0ceanm1nded ) rode with Hubster in the pickup/u-haul trailer, and Kid_2 & Kid_4 ( @Hank_Smash ) rode with me in Jethro Jeep. THEY. WERE. AMAZING!
Everyone rallied together and behaved and Kid_2 helped me navigate traffic and kept track of all my toll tickets/money–they couldn’t have made things ANY smoother! Movers got things moved in only a couple of hours–then, this morning as I started to do some of the unpacking–I noticed that my $3k mahogany armoire is scratch and dinged to HELL.
This was the first piece of MAJOR furniture that Hubster and I purchased when we first got married. It’s one of the first things that made me say to myself “Wow–I adulting now. I have a fucking ARMOIRE.” I’m so fucking pissed and upset. This is like an heirloom I wanted to keep in our family. I tried to use some Old English oil on it–yeah, it’s not working. (ι´Д`)ノ
We have a conference call later with the moving company on the kind of compensation we think we deserve, and I guess we’ll be talking about more than just the fiasco of getting us to Ohio.

Happy WTF Wednesday, Sparklenauts!
