I had a lot of trouble trying to get the computer to understand and distinguish between down motion and up motion and succeeded at binding the background and the objects color to this but don’t understand how to make the buttons exclusively move it down or up respectively and therefore the colors. I can only manage to get them to invert which is different from returning it to a set state. I attempted multiple approaches but haven’t found something that worked perfectly.

I had a bit of trouble trying to get the buttons to set the right speed while still having the objects move without and turn around without needing them pressed but haven’t found a solution. I also wanted the blue button to invert the colors of the background and the man to the opposite but have yet to figure that out. 

One state that I have seen in video games is the bleeding state. This state especially interests me because it can be remedied by various solutions, so this is the kind of state I want to code: states that are triggered by multiple different stimuli.
