For our 41st anniversary we had pizza and beer. lol I like everything she likes…except pickled beets. She likes almost nothing I like but somehow it works.

When she said pizza was the only thing she wanted for our 1st dietary splurge of the new year, I said the only pizza worth splurging on was MozzaPi.  She agreed.

So we skipped breakfast to pay for our anticipated indulgence and I turned up the radio to drown out our bitching stomachs.  A 30 minute drive later we crossed the east end bridge and soon after were in Anchorage, a rich community where the likes of Pappa John (Schnatter) dwell in lavish estates.  

Several of our favorite places to eat abide here, including The Village Anchor Pub and Roost with it’s basement pub The Sea Hag.  Even better is Selena’s Tavern, a Cajun/Florida seafood-centric jewel.  The newest joint is the newly built MozzaPi and this was our second visit.

I went for half a spicy giardiniera special with a bottle of juicy ESB, from Tennessee Brew Works, to wash it down.  When you deny yourself flavorful food for awhile, in this case three weeks, when you do give in, the experience is magnified.
