surprise visits | jungjin & mani
He greets the demigod warmly when the young man opens his door. A lopsided smile on his face, “Hello, Jungjin,” he says as he stifles a yawn. It wasn’t often that the moon god found himself staying up well after the sun had risen, but he knew that if he’d put this visit off any longer, he’d feel awful about it later. Mani opens his mouth to speak, but his mind blanks. No doubt the brain fog of exhaustion beginning to set in. “My apologies... I forgot myself for a moment there,” he blinks a couple times to compose himself, a sheepish chuckle following after. “I hope you don’t mind me dropping in all of a sudden,” he looks down, rambling softly. “I should have called ahead perhaps, just in case you were busy, but I’ve been meaning to stop by for a while... And I was in the neighborhood...”
His words die in his mouth as he finds himself feeling foolish for his sudden appearance, but he shrugs the notion away. If he was ever brave enough to act on his impulses, now would be the time. The lack of sleep lowering his inhibitions to the point where he couldn’t care less about how he came across. The only other time would be after a drink or two, but him drinking for leisure was a rare occasion on its own. “I hope I’m not interrupting you in the middle of anything important,” he begins again, brows furrowing slightly at the revelation.
“I promise I won’t be long, I just wanted to see how you were doing...” he explains himself. A touch of unspoken concern lingering in his words as he scans the younger’s face for any sort of distress. Mani couldn’t deny that he held a soft spot for the demigod. Especially when he came to find that he saw a bit of himself in the younger man after getting to know him. Mani knew all too well what self-loathing could do to a person, and he’d be damned if he let anyone so young and so kind suffer through such agony.
“I haven’t seen you in a while and I wanted to make sure that you were doing alright...” he pauses again. “I’d also like to apologize for not doing so sooner in case you needed to talk to anyone,” he lowers his eyes, guilt welling up in his chest. “But I got you these,” he looks down at his hands, hoisting up a paper bag in one hand and a tray of drinks in the other. Looking up at the demigod, he smiles again. “For you, from the Flower Mill... I remembered that you really liked that cafe, but I couldn’t remember which items were your favorites, so I selected a few of them...” he says thoughtfully before glancing over to the tray of drinks. “And the beverages... Well I just asked the kind lady for the most popular coffee and tea drinks in case you wanted one or the other,” he trails off again, his head tilting. “Do you have some time to chat?”
