as the warm sun rays hit her tanned skin valentina could have cried in happiness. with an overwhelming amount of joy, she walked through the sun-warmed sand that lined the pristine island beach. her surfboard under one arm and her bag over her other she found a spot to settle. val dropped her board on the sand and laid a towel next to it on the sand. she softly landed on her knees beside her board and got to work waxing the soft purple board.
her board was precious to her - she bought it one summer vacationing in fiji with her family and it was one of her most prized possessions. it was a dark purple longboard with white mandalas trailing along the right side. she had to fight with her mother to let her bring it home after their trip and it’s been her favorite board ever since. she has a few other boards but this one is her favorite.
she was bent over the board, her arms flexing in her rash guard as she hurriedly applied the wax to her board. she was excited to get out on the waves - it was a perfect day to enjoy the surf. valentina was in her own world as her mind was running wild trying to figure out how long she’d have to surf before heading to minx that night. until a shadow cast over her face, blocking the warm sun from lighting her way through the process.
with a quick glance, she looked up at the body casting the shadow because her sunglasses slid down her nose she had to look over the edge of her shades. “hola,” the spanish quickly slid into her greeting before she caught herself and corrected herself in korean. “hello, you’re blocking my sun - could you move?” with another pause she sat up on her knees to get a better look at who has joined her, distracted by the beautiful stranger for only another moment before she added; “please?”
