Krystal was reminiscing as she scrolled through old and new photos on her phone, stumbing across a photo of her and her best friend from their early med-school days. Comparing it to a newer picture had a warmth burning in her chest as she could see how much they’d grown up together over the years and it made her even happier to know that after everything they still ended up in each other’s lives again.

Blind Date | Aura & Willis

Signing herself up for a blind date was absolutely terrifying - no boy had ever actually asked her out on a date before (not that she had noticed) and so Aura wasn’t exactly sure what she was supposed to do. Would she even be a good date or would they be disappointed once they met her? Plucking up her courage though, she figured that meeting new people was good for her and there was no real excuse to pass up on raising money for Stop and Paws.

And that was how she ended up at the foot of the Ferris Wheel, the pink band on her dainty wrist actually matching her dress. It was a modest, pretty piece that made her feel like a princess - perhaps one that had stepped right out of an old romance movie - paired with casual white wedges and a headband ornamenting her golden curls. For a first ‘official’ attempt at a date, Aura felt that she’d dressed up well. She even had the sense to keep Bao Bao at home!

Peering through the crowd in search of a matching wristband, she finally found it on a rather handsome (and very tall) man. He seemed to be older than her as well, though appearances were often not what they seemed on the island. “Hi,” she waved with a shy smile, holding up her pink band, “I’m Auralie. Or Aura.”

old friends, new memories;

It was a strange day for Krystal, well strange for her anyway. She’d gotten a full night of uninterrupted sleep, made it to her shift at the hospital on time, and one of her favorite orderly had coffee ready to go in the staff lounge. So far, it was a good day and it had only just begun. Krystal was in the doctor’s locker room, a half drank coffee on the bench next to her as she shrugged her lab coat on over her clothes. It was a rainy spring morning but she didn’t mind a little rain. She turned around and was about to bend over to pick up her coffee cup when a tall figure walked through the door. Her curious mind tempted her to lean past the locker’s in front of her to take a peek at which of her coworkers had joined her.

Her heart jumped to her throat as a familiar, beautiful face stood before her. The now blonde froze as she made eye contact with the other. “Willis?!” When he faced her more fully she couldn’t help the excited smile that spread from her lips to the apples of her cheeks. She hadn’t seen her best friend in a couple of years now, leaving him behind in Seoul to finish school while she went off to her residency in Busan, then here to Mount Phoenix. He looked every bit as handsome as she hoped he would, a sudden flutter of butterflies in her stomach gave her a slight shock but she ignored them and stepped around the metal lockers.

“Oh my gosh, it really is you!” Krystal walked up closer to him as she took him in her arms lifted slightly, offering a hug for him to accept or decline.

✍️ - my muse teaching your muse

Saiga sat quietly, leaning on the table before them and resting their head in the palm of their hand. They watched as Willis began writing things in both Korean and English so that they could understand. Saiga only wished they’d learned the language of the island before agreeing to move here, it was difficult enough already when you didn’t speak but not being able to understand or write was a whole other matter. Dark brown eyes followed him as he spoke to them in English, explaining vowels, syllables, and what each symbol sounded like. Saiga was beyond grateful that Willis was willing to take the time to help them.

As he finished explaining one other thing to them, Saiga took the pencil and wrote back what he’d shown and showed it to him. To them it didn’t quite look right but they supposed it was a good place to start. After they showed him the Korean writing they wrote under it in English, “You’re a good teacher, thank you for helping me.”

"i could see that,” he replies with a huff, but he’s mostly amused in this case and he’s obviously not holding anything against his friend, though he does nudge willis’ side with his elbow.

“krystal and i are just friends,” he mimics his friend’s earlier words, from when sveinn had asked him about their mutual friend all that time ago. how things have changed at this point in time, he thinks, considering he thinks he knows both of his friends well enough to recognise the way they were basically shooting heart eyes at each other - their respective own versions of heart eyes, that is.

he hasn’t spoken to willis about what he thinks krystal feels, though, as that is definitely something between the two of them that he’s not going to try and get even remotely involved in - not even just with good advice.

“you talked to her about it yet or is this a crush you’re just going to harbour by yourself for five years again before you eventually just give up because she’s long found someone else?”

he’s once again just teasing, but it’s so incredibly fun to tease willis, especially when he knows the girl at the focus of his affections so well. it’s definitely a delightful surprise, this thing seemingly blooming between them.

(...) A hint of a smile creeps upon his face, doesn’t quite reach the eyes just yet, but it helps soften his stiff facial muscles enough for his guards to start being lowered. Leaning back against the softness of the chair, Willis hears himself tells Osiris something he has never told anyone else before. “I’ve got some issues on the mainland. It’s my old man’s dirty legacies, and it seems like it can kill him and also me at any time. A part of me doesn’t want to leave, but the other half does, so I can’t tell just yet if I want to beg you to resurrect me if that bad thing happens, you know.”

he makes a small face of guilt and apology when willis asks him about the whereabouts of his mother, because that is something he does not know indeed, and he shakes his head in response to the words to indicate as much. luckily it’s something willis seems to have realised by now as well, so that saves the young demigod the disappointment.

the second request, though, is one that makes him smile softly, once again an expression filled with fond warmth and he does reach out this time, touching his fingertips to willis’ cheek before he turns the affection into something a little more appropriate; a pat on the young boy’s shoulder.

“since you are egyptian, i will always know when you die. i will find you if it is the case and you can decide then whether you wish to live again or move on from this world.” he tilts his head to the side for a moment. “or you could call me when you get caught up in these dirty legacies and perhaps i can help stop you from dying altogether.”

he has no idea what was too much to ask of him, and it’s horrible, because this is a son of isis, which to osiris even after all this time basically means it might as well be his very own son, and so he makes sure to focus his full attention on the young man, one hand curled around his glass, the other itching to reach out and touch willis somehow, but he doesn’t think it’ll be appreciated right now.

“i’m sorry you feel that way,” he says, genuinely sad about it, and he takes a moment just to let that feeling overtake him fully before subsiding enough that he can be rational about this situation.

“i assure you i would do almost anything for you, though,” he says after another moment of silence, and he straightens up a little bit in his seat, because this is very important, and he wants willis to know he is taking this seriously. “however, i am not a mind reader so if you do not tell me that you need something, i won’t be able to give it to you.”

another pause, a moment in which his gaze searches willis’ face to see if he’ll find something there that might tip him off on what this is all about or what he is allowed to do and say and what he isn’t allowed.

“will you tell me?”

“I’m sorry, I’m not trying to do that...” he sighs softly. Regret and guilt dripping in his words. It’s not long before he’s loosening his grip on the young man’s arm, but not letting it go entirely. It had been a reflex to stop the other when he reached out to get a better glance at his scars. One that he had yet to learn how to stop. He looks up at the demigod and offers him a gloomy smile. “Willis, I know that you mean well,” he starts off, “And I appreciate what you’re trying to do...” he trails off, looking down and sucking in a breath. “But these scars...” he sighs again and looks up. “I’m not saying that you are not powerful in your own right... and I mean that in earnest,” he tries to reassure the other, though he’s not quite sure it helps.

“But I doubt that there’s anything that you could do to get rid of them...” he pauses hoping to find the right words to get his point across. “As much as I’d like for you to try, I just don’t think they’re worth wasting your energy... This was the best that Airmid could do for me and...” he sighs again, this time gently letting go and retracting his hand entirely. “I’m content with this,” he says softly trying not to let his melancholy show. “Besides, I’ve had these for centuries now- I’m not quite sure how I’d look without them,” he chuckles.
