@mpxhodr continued from here:
“As long as they’re edible...” Hodr pauses, making use of the tick-tock of silence to let himself catch up with his own mind, before adding to his previous statement, “...both literally and metaphorically.”
The Norse god has no idea how his initially brief exchanges of words with this taxi driver have turned into a quite meaningful conversation about food. And drinks. And now anything that’s edible, both literally and metaphorically. Hodr still has no clue why he must include the ‘metaphorically’ part; it seems like, despite a few decades being in this human vessel, there’s still a long way until he can get a firm grasp of how his mind is functioning in a physical body. When Hodr looks back outside the car window, he immediately realizes that they have already one block away from where he’s supposed to be dropped off. “Oh wait, no, you missed it! My shop’s at the previous corner, not here!”
he lets out a little laugh when hodr adds that last part to his sentence, because in all honesty he’s not even sure what it means, but it’s hilarious. he’s imagining the metaphorical version of chocolate, or maybe hodr means to say that anything one can ever do will always be better because chocolate is eaten at the same time. he takes a moment to consider it as well, but before he can form any more thoughts of his own on it, hodr suddenly speaks up sounding a lot more pressed than before, and he glances up at the buildings to their side.
“oh, no, i know,” he says, in what he hopes is a reassuring tone of voice. “i was just enjoying our conversation quite a lot and since you said you weren’t pressed i decided to do another turn around the block.” he does indeed turn to the right there, moving into a different street so he can make a little trip around the block before dropping hodr of where he actually needs to be. “but i’m no longer tracking the distance, no worries.”
he motions at the little machine that automatically calculates the price, indicating that it’s clearly paused and not adding any more to hodr’s bill. “i’ll even give you a discount, this was just too entertaining a conversation. could you explain what you meant with ‘both literally and metaphorically’, though?”
