Felix was excited. Not all that out of the ordinary for him, but he was especially excited today. He had been told that a coworker who had been away for the last few weeks was going to stop by, and he was naturally dying to meet her and become best friends-- because of course they would become best friends. Based on the photos that he was shown, conveniently on hand because she modeled designs for the store, she looked really nice. He couldn’t wait!

He spent the morning keeping busy-- tidying the store and fixing displays and taking care of customers as needed. And then the bell on the door rang, and when he turned to see who it was, he was sure it was his coworker and soon to be new best friend.

He hurried out from behind the register to greet her, practically bouncing in his excitement. She looked a little surprised to see him there, although he didn’t know why. “Hi! You’re Yako, right? The manager mentioned you might be coming in today,” he greeted her with a big smile, as high-energy as ever. “I’m Felix! I just started here a couple of weeks ago.”

Hongbin did not like to tell people about the things he was working on, but considering these specific pictures were from a cold case that he was using to play armchair detective in his spare time (as if he didn’t get enough murder on the job) and he was in the library, he did not mind sharing the photos with the strange girl who hadn’t given him much of a choice anyway. The photos could be found with a quick google search, so there was no harm in it.

He did, however, object to what she said. “Not all men are monsters,” he corrected, shaking his head. “But you could say that all monsters are men. If you use the term ‘man’ to mean humankind, I mean.”

Her next question made him raise an eyebrow, but he turned his attention back to the photos. “Based on the spatter on the ceiling and headboard, it looks like the suspect used a knife. Stabbed the victim... approximately fifteen times, I’d say. Then slit the throat, which was rather unnecessary.” He paused, glancing back up at her. “You’re not... disturbed, at all?” He was starting to get a weird vibe from her, if he were being honest.

very rarely does gemini ever ‘snap’, normally calm and collected to the best of his ability especially considering the circumstances of his occupation. he can’t afford to lose his cool when someone’s life depends upon his skill, normally dealing with the aftermath on his own time.

but every now and then....something or someone wiggles itself into his cracks and splits him from head to toe.

to say he is stressed is an understatement ― if the look on gemini’s face doesn’t say enough, the manner in which he quite literally pushes his way through a crowd of doctors and retires to a seemingly abandoned hallway should. it had been a while since the last time the demigod chose to hide away in such a part of the hospital, almost humorously so.

however, what wasn’t humorous was the fact that he was mere seconds away from what looked to be a panic attack.

“ not again... “ gemini’s voice holds a tone of defeat as he slides down the wall, hands gripping either side of his head in an effort to fight the migraine splitting through his skull ― had he forgotten to take his medicine today? curse the gods, he thinks while grinding his jaw. where are they when their children need them... it’s a silent twisting of his own worries and demons, the back of his head cracking against the pristine white wall behind him as gem swallows. another child lost, another death on his hands. “ i should’ve....i should’ve brought her back, ah gods... “ regrets fill his mind as the pricking of tears blurs his eyes, silently cursing how he hadn’t used his abilities when the moment presented himself. he’s so caught up in his thoughts that he doesn’t even fully register a shadowed presence slipping into view out of the corner of his eye, shuddered breaths pushing past his lips.

the soft jingling of the entry bell to stop’n’paws chimes quietly through the store, two-toned eyes peeking out from under fluffed brunette locks. clover, above everything, had never been to such a store ― he didn’t have a pet (just yet), and as much as he was thinking of getting one....such wasn’t the cause for today’s adventure.

no, not at all ― he was here for a gift. 

feet taking him softly across the store floor, clover’s touch mingles about the assortment of collars, treats, and whatever else could be considered ‘necessary for animals’. the urge to view those that were adoptable sit in the back of his mind, but if anything he needed to stay focused ― what did cats like? but even more so, what did sorn like?

he must’ve looked like an idiot standing next to a dog mannequin presenting a harness, though after a few moments a presence near to him draws his attention; why not ask for help? smiling gently to himself, clover quietly slips around a cabinet and over to the likewise other browsing customer, flashing a sheepish smile as his eyes lift to meet with the woman’s in front of him. “ hi! uh, sorry, i was looking for um... “ the demigod’s gaze flickers about the area for a moment before returning. “ a gift, and i can’t really decide uh....it’s for a cat! or cats, i guess. do you know what could go best for them? “

  He purses his full lips as she reacts to what he said he heard. Mhmm, it’s just as he suspected. Gossip on the tongue of someone who don’t know nothing yet. There’s nothing that ticks him off faster than gossip so Dakota crosses his arms and nods before he waits his turn to respond. Granted he doesn’t know her all that well himself but she hasn’t done a thing to him or his people so he can’t pass much judgment on her yet.

  “So they lyin’. That’s brave,” he sucks his teeth in annoyance. “Reeeeaall brave to be doin’ to me. Alright, I see them.”

  Dakota looks at her eyes sizing her up to assess how he will proceed. Yeah. “I don’t know you yet and you a little weird, not gonna lie to you Yaks, but until you haul off and curb stomp someone or somethin’, I don’t like hearin’ mess about you. Imma take care of it this time but I hear it again I’m gonna come to you again.”

Violent Muse Reaction Prompts: Accepting

Felix frowned, hugging his bag of takeout to his chest. “There’s no need to be so mean! I said I was sorry!” Sure, he had bumped into her pretty hard, but it had been a total accident and he had apologized. It was not his fault that it suddenly looked like it was going to rain. He just wanted to get to Hyuna’s place with their dinner before he got soaked by the impending downpour. He’d hate to get sick or something.

“I’d offer to buy you ice cream, but I’m sort of in a hurry. Tell you what: next time I bump into you, I’ll buy you a double-scoop!” He flashed her a sheepish grin and stepped past her, feeling a drop of water hit his forehead. Time to run. “Gotta go! Sorry again!”

About half a step inside the pet shop, Hades realises exactly who is behind the counter. There is a long list of things to be said about his self-control when all he does is let out a disgusted noise rather than unleash the wrath of hell upon her.

But when the next moment those words come from the little insolent brat’s mouth, he heavily considers opening up all the cages and sending all the dogs on her ass. Then he remembers Zeus’ words. Well he doesn’t remember Zeus’ words exactly, but he remembers his brother’s annoying voice stating some sort of pacifying thing, most probably, and it makes him straighten, take a deep breath and focus his attention on something other than the girl.

And then the most wicked of grins appears on his face. With a slight turn of his head, he looks at where the dogs are kept in their cages. There is one animal species that gives him their complete obedience after all, no matter what. And he knows the influence stays long after he’s left their presence.

So he doesn’t even bother hiding it when he speaks out loud, perfectly clear for the young girl behind the counter to hear as well. “From now on you will make her life living hell for as much as you can. Whenever she’s in I command you to raise hell in the best way you can manage.”

He doesn’t wait for their response before turning around and walking back out again, but his exit is accompanied by the loud howls and barking of all the dogs currently in the pet shop, who all start doing their best to ruin the demigod’s day. Some of them are probably already peeing on the floor of their cage, others will be scratching and biting at every part to try and get out.

Oh she is going to have to deal with his revenge for a very long time. And nothing to be done about it either. If anyone asks he will tell them it was a ‘simple prank.’
