The Past
Mr Jacobs glared out his study window. His son should have been home hours ago. The rain poured down the window pane. The distant howl of the wind had him pulling his collar up around his thick neck. Concern for his son's welfare had nothing to do with his worry over his tardiness. He was anxious for news of his recent betrothal to Miss Mary Bennett.
The betrothal would wipe out his substantial debt to Longborne. A debt he had no intention of paying. "Where is that boy?" he grumbled turning from the window.
His only solace was the thought Mrs Bennett had prevailed upon the boy to stay until the storm had passed. A knowing conniving smile spread across his face. It made it no less stern than it was before if anything it made him more intimidating. That would be the best possible conclusion and his son was no fool.
He put a hand to his stout stomach turning his bulk to towards the door. He wondered what Mrs Jacobs had on the menu this evening. His wife was an excellent house keeper much more than he could say for the wives of his two elder sons. Their sniveling jangled his nerves. No doubt Miss Bennett would do the same. Probably had no more sense than her mother.
"Good" a cunning grin spread across the older man's face. Hands steepled in front of him he gave his son an appraising look "it's time you marry."
Efron jerked his chin up despite knowing this was the only logical conclusion to the inquiry. Their family owed a debt to Longbourne. To pay that debt his father was seeing a marriage alliance a wholly logical solution so as not to pay it. "Yes sir" Efron mumbled knowing all to well how useless it was to argue with his father over money matters. He couldn't have felt worse over the situation if he had been facing his own execution.
"It's good to know I have one sensible son" the older man mumbled as he stood up his girth making it difficult for him to maneuver around his desk. "I've arranged for you to entertain the young woman this afternoon."
"Yes sir" he mustered in front of his father. Inside he was hollow. A bottomless pit of darkness. His life was over. His father had successfully sold him into servitude to a woman he didn't even know. Didn't love. He was no worse no better than his elder brothers who had all met the same fate. He walked towards the door on wobbly legs. As he reached for the door handle his father's mirthless laughter followed him from the room.

NO THE WHITE HOODIE
Unpopular opinion
I don't want Callie to be adopted. NOT because of Brallie. But because I believe Mr. Jacobs loves Callie and Jude. And I think its unfair for them to leave him. I do understand the family loves them and everything but he loves them too. He would have never leave them If it wasn't for the fact he went to jail. He didn't choose to kill anyone and he never stopped loving them. I just think everyone is a bit hard on him and I wish we can see a stronger connection between them this season. I know we will gey a connection between her real dad and sister. But I want to see a conectipn between Callie and Mr. Jacobs and I want to see him fighting for her
