Chapter 10 - Progress.
Tonight has been a good writing night. I definitely didn't need those 2 hours of sleep I should have already gotten, lol.
This was a much better use of my time!
[WIP below. Raw and fresh out of the writers brain. This baby hasn't even been proofread, let alone Beta :P]
āY- YOU EXCEPTED HIS POSITION?!ā Reginald stuttered, anger mixing with disbelief. āWhat on EARTH were you thinking! Iām not even sure this āHead of Securityā he has come up with is a Clan legal position!ā Macbeth sighed, continuing to unpack his things. He wasnāt exactly thrilled about moving into the Airship for Suaveās position, he didnāt need Reginald adding to those feelings that had left him feeling physically ill all week. āAnything else Right Hand?ā He asked, patience wearing thin. āIāve got a headache and Iād like to be left to rest in peace.ā āNO! OF COURSE THAT WASNāT āitā!ā
Macbeth flopped onto his bunk, pulling a pillow over his head and listened to the sound of Reginald pacing the length of his small room. āI donāt even know WHERE to start with you! Or him!ā He continued, āWhatever heās up to, I doubt its anything good, and I am HIGHLY concerned as to why he wants you involved in his new scheme!ā God. Macbeth was so fucking tired of this drama between them. āIsnāt a Right Hands job to trust their leader?ā He deadpanned. āWell- yes, but- not him!ā Reginald stuttered, trying to defend himself. āIf Terrence has proven ANYTHING over the last 2 years, itās heās-ā āReginald.ā Macbeth rolled over, removing the pillow from his face. He waited for the Right Hand to at least stop pacing, which, he eventually did. āI get you donāt agree with his ideas, and not all of āem are the ābestā ideas available, but what your saying is starting to sound A LOT like mutiny. You do realise that, right?ā āI-ā Macbeth didnāt let him finish. āAnd if someone overhears this shit, youāre gonna get reported and demoted, best case scenario.ā Finally, Reginald shut up.
āLook,ā He sighed, sitting upright and holding his pillow. āI know youāre just trying to do what your uncle taught ya, and what you think is best for the clan but⦠maybe the other Elites are right about him. Maybe heās not the problem. Maybe itās us, and the way we view the Chief. Maybe if you start trying to see things from his perspective, then shitāll start running smoother around here again.ā āW- what has gotten into you, recently?ā Reginald scowled between his confusion. āYou told me yourself when he became Chief you didnāt trust him, but now you suddenly do?!ā Macbeth folded his arms tighter around his pillow, sick rising in his throat. āMaybe I was wrong about him.ā āMacbethā¦ā Reginald shook his head slowly. āWhatever Terrence has told you⦠He knows heās loosing his grasp on the Toppat Clan; Heās panicking. He knows he canāt live up to Sir Wilford, he- he canāt even maintain the Clan he was left behind!ā He walked forward and put a hand on Macbeth's lap, kneeling down to meet his eyes. āI do not know what heās offered you, or said to you, but he is using you and it is all going to end in the flames of his dethroning that will burn you in the process.ā
