Mr. Quackers Raps
@adryanscott
Tiny Him
Did Zuko have plush toys of his own, or is Sparky the Dragon a family heirloom?
Mr. Quackers, who is a turtleduck plushie given to him by his mom.
I totally want to know more about the Mr. Quackers canon! Like, do you have specific thoughts for any of the following: How does Zuko persuade Azula that there's room for childish things? How does Zuko react when she reveals she stole him but also that she kept him safe? Did Ty Lee or Mai know about Sparky? How did they react when she got rid of him? How about when she finally brought him back?
I’ve decided Mr. Quackers is canon and no, no one can change my mind.
Zuko doesn’t actually do any kind of persuading. But he doesn’t have to. No, her older brother has always been terrible at hiding his emotions, and this doesn’t change at all when Izumi is born. If anything, he gets worse.
So of course Azula catches the quick flash of pain in his eyes, the kind that only a prodded old wound can cause, when he watches his daughter flail around a stuffed otter-penguin one of the Water Tribesmen gave her. She knows exactly what he’s thinking.
So when Azula looks at Izumi, she decides to take the risk. That childish things might have a place in the palace now that children have a place there.
---
Zuko is wary when Azula slides into his office with her hands behind her back. Of course he is; they might be getting better at this “being siblings” thing, but he’s not stupid. So the last thing expects is his sister dropping an old, worn, and slightly-dusty turtleduck plush toy on his desk.
(He remembers crying himself to sleep the week Mr. Quackers went missing. He also remembers the utter hurt-frustration-anger when he realized that Azula stole him. Not that it was hard to figure that part out. Who else would have done it?) (Okay, Ozai would have.)
The plush is still just as soft as he remembers. His heart does a weird little flip-flop in his chest as his fingers trace the oh-so-familiar shape of Mr. Quackers’ face and shell. “I thought you burned him,” he whispers.
“Father wanted to.”
Zuko looks up at her at that. Azula doesn’t look at him, looks anywhere but him, clearly uncomfortable. She doesn’t fidget, because Azula doesn’t fidget, but she just exudes the impression she’d rather be swallowing glass than be here.
“How?” How did she do it? How did she keep Ozai from turning this toy to ash? Why did she make (let) him believe she destroyed his first friend all this time?
Azula finally looks up and meets his eyes. Her lips twist into small, rueful smile. “Haven’t you heard, Zuzu?” she murmurs. “Azula always lies.”
Korrasami Week - Day 7: Family [VIDEO1]
Korra records a wholesome family outing with Mr. Quackers, our turtleduck son (he just turned 2 <3).🐥

We got these giant lemons so my mom took the opportunity and made it a duck and I thought it looked more like a lemon-orange-pumpkin so I peeled it and there are orange segments but they taste like lemons so I found a larenge.
It’s name is Mr Quackers.
