Well, at least, in their own dumb way, they are trying. I know you probably have, but have you tried just sitting her down and (trying to) calmly talk through the issue. And then open a discussion. calmly rebutt her talking about cost.?

Would you fucking go: “oh whoops” while LAUGHING if the child of your girlfriend left the table CRYING ? I don’t think so. My mom is definitely trying, but not in the right places. She thinks cakes and cookies are going to “buy me happiness” and supposedly “solve the entire problem”, but she’s completely on the other side of the wall. I’m stressed out of my mind, I have no motivation, I have no goals to achieve, I didn’t even want to be here in the first place. I couldn’t care less about junk food. It’s not going to motivate me, it’s not going to help me, it’s only going to make me feel worse. Like, I know she doesn’t mean any harm; but holy shit I wish she fucking understood. She’s living a happy life with her new-found-ish boyfriend and she completely avoids asking me if I’m okay and if i’m doing what I want. She’s being extremely selfish, and she victimises herself in situations like this: “oh stop being rude, stop being a crybaby I never asked for this etc”. I did try to talk to her about it yesterday and all she could so is : “oh well suck it up, life fucking sucks. I had it like this too, and I was crying too. You can’t get what you want. You know, IB gets you into any UNI you want !! ! ! IB is great. Life is about compromises” Roughly... she only cares about education, and not about my own mental health. Earlier she came into my room saying she had done “research”  and that the only other option was doing HSC. ... the ONLY other option. I’m aware that IB has excellent outcomes, but it’s just not my piece of cake. If life is about compromises, you could compromise IB to do something I could thrive in. Trying to “cheer me up” while doing silly faces can only make me angrier. It always has. They literally take my situation as a joke even though they say they don’t. Since i’m only a child to them, they use their “maturity” and “life experience” on me as a tool, and as an absolution. “ You cannot succeed in arts if you don’t do IB”  I call bullshit.

You’ve seen where the living room/ kitchen is. It’s like; impossible to take out anything without them waking up and being grumpy about it. Plus, there’s dumplings and rice for dinner; but I can’t cook them unless they’re awake. fuck me.
