The hardest question on this list

Aden’s would at first borrow a lot from the movement of Serenity you hear around Camp Tranquil, then after phase change would involve the Ishgardian themes and be hard and driving.

Merrick’s would probably take an arabesque theme and run it through the metal sounds used in a lot of the primal themes--but there would be no lyrics unless they’re from the perspective of the Storm.  The phase change discussed before would cut out all music, just rain/wind/thunder.

At least I’m not the only person having a weird reaction to the hair/facial hair change.  He looks like a different person.  It’s fucking weird.  There’s a reason I put a hood on him.

1. Adi is my brother. He doesn’t like me to talk about it, so I’ve only told two people.

I think what really was the final straw for me - what drove me to retire as an adventurer - was having to do a funerary ritual for a child with whom I’d forged, for however short a time, a small connection with. She was killed by her own mother, a void witch. I couldn’t be detached from it - it’s always difficult with children to begin with, because it is so tragic when Thal takes someone to his Gates without hardly having lived - especially when that short life was full of fear and suffering. I recited prayers from the Enchiridion with her as she died. I haven’t been part of the faith for a long time, but I did that much for her. I couldn’t walk it back. It almost broke me. And I know what happens when I break - I couldn’t go on with it. I wouldn’t have survived.

Dan Mangan - Post War Blues

Eti and Rhos obviously have really different experiences with the wars they experienced - Eti was a civilian during the Dragonsong War and suffered directly from the natural disaster and the strain of being the bottom rung in a strained and oppressive society, while Rhos was in the Ala Mhigan resistance with all of the danger, betrayals, and violence that surely brought. But both of them bonded early on in their experience of coming from places that are ‘broken’, wondering what their place is now that their homes have changed, trying to find more gentle ways to contribute to the places they love.  Wartime mentality can’t bring you peace, and yet it’s still fresh within the memory. And yet there’s this drive, this wish that there could be something reckless and dangerous and unambiguous to be devoted to - there’s this yearning undercurrent.

The journey with PTSD tends to be realizing that the shit you did when you were actively needing to survive don’t work now. And they shouldn’t, because ideally, one is happier and safer, but... hell, sometimes you miss knowing who the enemy is! If your enemy is like, exes and paying your rent on time, it’s progress but it might feel a waste at times. I think they both know that about one another, even if it goes unsaid.

The sarcastic opening verse of the song definitely echoes Etienne’s personal sentiments about the Dragonsong War vs. M’rhos fighting the Garleans, though I think Etienne would use similar language to argue against the use of violence to solve problems in a general way. :’) But that ties in not only to their respective survival (and survivor’s guilt), but their personalities as well.
