A woman asked me "Where have the good men gone?" So I replied...

RANT: What has happened to the good men?

They’re busy working on/at a specific cause or developing a craft in order to try and make some real money or have given up on dating

because women in Los Angeles think what happens in music videos and on television shows is “real life” and that it’s the fault of normal men for not being ballers.

Like it’s our fault the government refuses to install a quality livable wage that people can actually survive and even thrive on.

I used to hear stories from my mom’s friends like “I put myself through school working at…” a bar/golf course *Insert job that most starving artists now have*

You can’t even pay your rent while having roommates with a job like that let alone pay bills and have money left over to even date someone in a city like Los Angeles.

A good/decent date is a MINIMUM $150-$300 and that’s just doing basic S**t like getting a decent meal and attending a show/activity plus having to purchase drinks/snacks pay for parking at said activity.

So unless you’re a male model or have the lip game of Filmore Slim You gotta do that 3-5 more times JUST to get in heavy rotation and get the women your after to even consider dropping other guys competing for her attention…

Then you REEEEEALLY have to start spending the BIG BUCKS!! Trips, to places you don’t wanna go to because you’re fine with staying local and finding something fun to do with friends

BUT NOOOOOOOooooo she has to go on a trip JUST TO TAKE A PHOTO on that trip to SHOW/Throw it in her friends faces on social media (just to make her frenemies angry) and 9 times outta 10 YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN SAID PHOTO!!!

Even though you paid for the ENTIRE TRIP and put up with all her B. S. en route to the vacation spot you hit. (Because let’s face it, a lot of women DON’T TRAVEL WELL) Dudes, we’re easy, a few pairs of jeans and clean shirts and a neck pillow and we’re GOOD!!

If you are allowed in the vacation photo you’ll more then likely be cropped out of it because she doesn’t want to let the last few dudes in her rotation know that she might be cutting them from her starting five… All Due to her ego and let’s face it need for attention and always thinking something better is coming around the corner. Basically not living in reality and composing her lifestyle to copy what she sees on social media

Also EVERY WOMAN has at LEAST 3 dudes trying to get at her… (Married or single ot doesn’t matter if you looked you’d find EXACTLY that) FYI: ESPECIALLY if she’s an “LA 6” or higher (an LA 6 Is a Beyoncé WORLD-WIDE)

Most of the time it’s 5-7 but there’s ALWAYS that main 3 (the daily hard workers) in her in-box/texts/ (I learned that math from YEARS of promoting clubs and DJing) every girl you put on the list subconsciously brings 3 dudes to the spot (not with them but because of them) sometimes those dudes STILL show up even when she doesn’t because they want to have something to talk about when said female reaches back out to them later that week!

The invention of social media just made everyone more envious of other people for the wrong reasons. Also society (imho) has forced a mindset that makes women super insecure and they need to fill that void with “likes” and extra attention.

Most people that have dope lives don’t advertise it (unless they’re famous and they have to) Everyone wants to be “famous” so they advertise…

These bottle waitresses aka “models” on social media don’t post scantly clad photos of themselves for the sake of “art” it’s an advertisement to the few lucky douchebags that have a few extra bucks to gain favor and entrap them into thier web in hopes of a better life.

Men with nice things are just as bad but it’s because women like nice things. As Dave Chappelle once said “if I could F**K a beautiful woman on a cardboard box I wouldn’t buy a house” it’s bait…

If everyone just fought for a living wage that could really make a difference then most of the problems in this country would dissolve. It would just be a few idiot rich kids with mediocre childhoods and small penisis trying to pop shit.

Too many distractions and people thinking they’re superstars because 30 people liked a photo on social media and everyone being broke is the issue.

That’s why they’re always screaming “bring back the 50s” everyone had a job, a house 2 cars and a dog…

White folks in the flyover states no longer have this so they blame people of color/gays/artists instead of the corporations that pay the nimrods that they voted into office to keep them broke uninformed and fighting amongst each other because they see something that another person has that they don’t and they don’t think that person is worthy of having that item…

I’m guilty of that all the time, I’ve seen many people fail upwards and it made me angry and then I realized what matters…

I wanna be healthy, have a great circle of friends and want to be able to have some fun… Not popping bottle private jet fun but more of a “I can travel on a plane day of due to an emergency/great opportunity and pay my bills and live in a safe neighborhood and keep up with the new gadgets and eat out twice a week and attend something super fun every week and not have to look at my bank account and cringe…

In closing, a livable wage for all and people putting aside their egos a bit and just being a little bit nicer to each other would make everyone better people.

But it won’t happen until we have a drastic regime change because the example being set at the moment monkey wrenches any real future for adult relationships…

Check out my Guru/Gang Starr Tribute set on @KCRW that @GarthTrinidad invited me to do live on air to celebrate the life and music of G.U.R.U. 

Today marks 3 years since we have lost one of the greatest mc's in hip-hop and music history in general. Guru along with the great Dj Premier set the bar really high and incorporated the type of sounds/samples that made you want to go digging for the original vinyl to try and wrap your head around the way Premier flipped and manipulated the sample to create an amazing swinging (cause Primo's beats ALWAYS swing, if you don't know what i mean about "swing" do some jazz history research). Primo (Dj Premier) kept things true as possible and incorporated the original aspects of hip hop on EVERY track they ever touched... from flipping obscure samples to create underground anthems to finding the perfect worded sample to scratch over his track on the breaks and intros, setting up Guru to drop the lyrical hammer of thor! Guru then took to creating a  set of records that the masses that couldn't understand the street level/underground sounds that he and primo were creating to form his "Jazzmatazz" series which might of been on of the 1st hip-hop acts (respected hip-hop acts) ever to grace the stage of the tonight show and he went on to collaborate with a whole slew of artists from many different genre's and create a sound that was both underground and sophisticated enuff for the fly over states pallets. You started hearing the gang starr/jazzmatazz sounds in coffee shops, hip eateries, and even in commercials and tv shows around the world. Jazz heavy and soulful and always aiming for an edge that the underground heads could be proud of but just safe enough for the masses to handle it was the calling card of Guru and Premier. We haven't really seen a group champion jazz/soul like this duo has, and by the looks of heavy sample prices and the lack of jazz education and the fact that most of our jazz legends have passed away we probably won't ever see it again.

I miss my youthful days in the late 80's/90s when hip-hop was an artform that only a select few had access to and could actually grasp it's wisdom and innovation. THose were the days where you really felt like you were creating and were a part of something revolutionary, compared to todays "rap" music. I call it "rap" music because it no longer follows the blueprint of classic and even modern hip-hop being done by the underground, it seems that the trap sounds have trapped peoples minds and no one in the scene wants to take a risk and do something different it's the same ignorant unartistic trap flows over the same bpm and being controlled by in my opinion a bunch of fake mickey mouse rappers who need bodyguards to walk the streets. Basically proving the point of a hook from one of Gang Starr's tracks "fake mc's who always act hard but can't walk the street without a bodyguard".

In conclusion, i was recently at the Public Enemy Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Inductee show and Doug-E-Fresh was hosting and said what i've been thinking for a while... "I miss hip-hop GROUPS!" Me TOO Doug!! I miss the days where you got to see an actual hip hop band get on stage and do things as one unit. I'm tired of this being an individual thing being controlled by corporate marketing (being passed off as underground tastemaker blogs), and the L.C.D. (lowest common denominator) factor meaning that the more ignorant s**t you say the more your record sells or gets illegally downloaded.... and Chuck D mentioned about Hip-Hop NOT being done right and the art of putting on a good show is GONE and it's just one dude on stage sagging in skinny jeans popped up on mollys rapping over a his own backtracked vocals on his song (meaning he can't rock his own track without having the actual vocals played underneath because his performing skills are mad suspect) and on that note I'm calling out ALL THE WOMEN who call themselves hip-hop fans... you know these dudes are ignorant and bash women and talk down to you YET you continue to support these artists?? why?? because the beat sounds good?? See back in the golden age you had to have the hot beat AND smart lyrics and put on a GREAT SHOW!! and most women respond to the lyrical content of the day by saying "he's not talking about me!!" really ladies?? THAT's how you're gonna pass off and justify your terrible taste levels?? it's time for the ladies to step it up and start supporting REAL and TRUE music because being "RATCHET" is NOT a good thing... if it was then The !st Lady Michelle Obama and her daughters would be doing as you call it "Ratchet s**t" Step your music game up ladies and also to all my fellow black folks... START SUPPORTING SMART BLACK MUSIC!!! before hip-hop was invented Soul Train was setting the trends and Don Cornelius ONLY had on smart black music or artists who represented a soulful smart sounds, not dummies in smart jeans and with bad tattoos rapping about stuff THEY'VE NEVER DONE IN THEIR LIVES and how well you fit into a pair of skinny jeans. i need EVERYONE to step it up and start doing/supporting smart black music again I call on the ladies 1st because the fellas go where the ladies go and if the ladies are into smart black music than the fellas will MAKE themselves fans because they wanna be around the ladies.

Also DON'T say "oh you're just getting old and Don't understand" NO because I think that new Tyler The Creator "WOLF" album is AMAZING & that Jay-Z and Kanye stayed true to the blueprint of Hip-Hop on the "Watch The Throne" album & Kendrick lamar is on a good path but needs to stop f**king with drake and a few others who don't hold true to the og blueprint of hip-hop. ALSO all of the tons of other music genre's i listen to DON'T have this issue.... because they "get it" they keep it moving and progressive and forever changing for the better so WHY CAN'T HIP-HOP!!?? 

 okay enough of my ranting, i miss Guru of Gang Starr and i hope he's holding things down in the after world, we need more smart credible acts like Gang Starr and jazzmatazz in music... someone please resurrect the standards of The Golden Age of hip-hip!!!
