Just thinking about how in Sideways Stories from Wayside School, Mrs. Gorf can turn children into apples by wiggling her ears and sticking out her tongue. Why and how does she have this ability? Is she descended from Medusa, since her power can be deflected by using a mirror (and she turns herself into an apple as a result)? After Mrs. Gorf turns herself into an apple, Louis the yard teacher eats the apple, not knowing it was Mrs. Gorf. But we know that when the children had been turned into apples, they were able to communicate with each other and stage an uprising against Mrs. Gorf so she’d turn them back into children, (before she got herself turned via the mirror). So, when Louis eats Apple Mrs. Gorf, does she know that she is being eaten? Does she feel the pain? If the children as apples had some semblance over control over their apple-bodies, why didn’t Apple Mrs. Gorf try to run or move or anything? Is Louis considered a cannibal now that he ate Mrs. Gorf? Or does that not count since she was an apple? hmmmm.....
See, I was right! Today is the day we celebrate [Halloween], the Friday before! Mrs. Gorf proved it. They all laughed at me and made me feel stupid because I was the only one who got dressed up. But they were the ones who were wrong. You and I are right.
