He already did, briefly.

Between books #2 and #3, the students temporarily relocated to different schools while Wayside was infested with cows. According to the narration, Todd was sent to the reader's school.

One of the most underrated Wayside bits is the chapter where they're writing poems about their favorite colors, and Joe can't think of any rhymes for red. Mrs. Jewls tells Joe to think of words that end with "ed," so

I found out about a book called "The Art of Ramona Quimby", and I know that the Wayside books are comparatively lesser-known than the Ramona books, but I wonder what an art book for Wayside might look like. As in, short biographies of each illustrator, and comparisons of key moments from each book. I especially would like to see the reasoning behind the changes in the cartoon; e.g., why Eric Fry is skinny, which ruins the joke about the three Erics.

The Wayside books only had illustrations on the first page of each chapter, while the Ramona books were heavy on illustrations. Then again, the Wayside books have a lot more leeway what it comes to character design.
