The Vane family... I want the best for them but also they speak like psychopaths. Do people-- did people speak like this?

Like, thankfully they don't talk like Dorian or Henry or any of the rich people, which is basically a middle schooler going through an "intellectual" phase that's trying to quickly fulfill the word count of an essay but like...

Is it just that they're hopped up on play dialogue and Sibyl learned to speak from reading Shakespeare because she's just like "Mother! Mother! Oh, kiss me on the cheek, Mother! Happy! Happy!
