in which I ran like a scared mouse from the claws of MRT
I am not supposed to be writing this, I am not even supposed to be here feeding you with this entry. I should be in the office right now for my orientation for a job that I am more or less sure about its potential or my capacity to fulfill it.
So this is some sort of "lessons from the MRT", only less-- bourgeois and conyo.
The queue at MRT proved that 1) we have a horrible transportation system here in the Philippines. All streets are clogged especially during Monday morning. Can we start the week any good? We waste all our time, energy, and sanity in the streets instead of investing all that to our work. If we are being paid hourly, then the time we spend stuck in a traffic is a monetary waste.
Everyday is a battlefield, literally, in MRT/LRT stations. You have to commit to the victory of having a space that is not even enough for your butt to fit in. You inhale the oxygen that has been exhaled 1000x by everyone and probably contaminated by whatever toxic particles emitted by the armpit of someone. While you are so engaged in figuring out how you'll breathe, you have to be mindful of your belongings as someone might sneak their hands into your pocket or bag to get the material things that you value. For your entertainment, people will surprise you with murahan festival like a flash mobbed.
Why can't we have decent train rides? Also, why can't the public stay moral in public?
2) That this (job) is not something I want to do in every waking day of my life for months or years, which includes the MRT ride. (I don't even know what to do; I'm in a limbo!)
Maybe I am not yet ready to go beyond my sheltered area, that my transition from young to adult should be gradual. That maybe, this transition requires more than a wardrobe change or physical alteration of myself. This is something that has to come from within.
I am just thankful that my parents are willing to sponsor my sustenance until I'm ready to land a job! And I hope, it wouldn't be that too long.

I don't mind being alone, until.....
I took the MRT station from Ayala Avenue from one of my many interviews and to avoid the rush hour people I always do round trips. I don't remember what station exactly when they came in the train but there they are.
I really don't mind being alone and I'm just happy of what I have right now until.....I saw them, a happy couple and realize what I'm missing out on. Due to lack of seats they have to stand. And yeah, they were standing right in front of me so I have to see all the sweetness.
They are clinging to each other to not stumble when the train moves. The arms of the guy wrapped around the girl and the arms of the girl on the hips pf the guy. Typical.
Then the person beside me went off the train and the seat got available. Who else would sit there? Of course the happy couple. The guy sat first and the girl on his lap (like standing in front of me was not yet enough). Talk about public display of affection right?
Not only that I have to witness everything I also hear everything. The way they converse to each other. The girl supplied almost all the conversation.
I think their relationship is one of those 'Barkada' types if relationship where they can act as best friends, brothers and sisters and at the same time they are lovers too.
Jealous. I always want that kind of relationship.
And I just sat there looking at the opposite direction by the window thinking, "Geez when can I have something like this?"
The happy couple goes off at Cubao station, where majority of the passengers went off the train. I wonder where they will go.
I wonder how many months or years they have been together, I wonder how many fights they had been through and how many cool off or break ups they had endured. I wonder. They looked very comfortable.
Yeah, I don't mind being alone but I don't want to be lonely. Now I know the meaning of that phrase.
This happened more than a month now I just randomly remembered it upon waking up this morning.
side note.
On the MRT on my way back home from Makati, some fucker tried to snatch my iPod.
Luckily I was wearing pants with tight pockets and I put my iPod in it's leather case recently, thereby increasing its drag coefficient and the fucker was only able to unplug my earphones from my iPod (which are also still fine).
So yeah. Lesson learned. On future trips on the train I'll have to sacrifice listening to music and keep my stuff tucked in my backpack.
but still.
that guy's a fucker.
fucker.
