Peter Rabbit and his #littleadventure in London

So I stumbled across this artist work and it’s really amazing...

These are made by Marcus’s Crocker who made a six of Beatrix Potter’s best-known characters for a London adventure! It was in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the author’s birth.

What’s even more amazing is how he made them:

Amazing right? Haha I was trying to get inspiration to make the rest of Peter’s friends and I stumbled across this amazing piece of art.

It’s just too bad he did not make Mr Tod or Pigling Bland. Would have loved to see that!

So I made my own versions:

My favourite is Mrs Tiggy Winkle... she looks like an auntie, at least to me. Mr Tod did not turn out too menacing though. Jemima Puddle Duck looks like a white version of Daffy Duck I made previously.

They were super fun to make!

So they are off on their own #littleadventure!

How I made Peter Rabbit after several tries.

I was planning my Little One’s birthday party and the inspiration for making Peter Rabbit came from:

So I set out to make Peter Rabbit. I had previously made some rabbits before... like Bugs Bunny and Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh. And I do often refer back to old patterns for new similar characters I want to make.

But Peter Rabbit does not look anything like those rabbits... just look at the cheeks! Haha.

So I started from scratch and I made many mistakes along the way:

1) Wrong colour

So I started out with a darker colour and it looked... erm, wrong. I think by now I already felt the head shape was non-rabbit-ish.

2) Wrong snout

And then I changed the colour... felt it looked better but after inserting the snout, my husband said Peter looked like a rat. You know... Peter Pettigrew rat-tish, wrong Peter. I even added a white rim around the eyes. Honestly, I have no idea where I threw this piece already.

3) Wrong head shape

I subsequently removed his snout and left his head with a pear-shaped outline. My sister said it looked okay but I still was not entirely satisfied. It’s really something about the shape that bothered me.

Did some tweaking to the head shape... again...

Can you see the difference? At least I can... looks more like a rabbit?

Peter Rabbit? Now ‘run along and don’t get into any mischief’.

Five of the famous and timeless tales are celebrated for Christmas.

According to my housemate, this year’s TV schedule for Christmas Day is very disappointing, but apparently this is a necessary sacrifice to afford us a really wonderful selection of radio programmes.

First up, The Tales of Beatrix Potter. These aren’t, as I was expecting, straight up audio dramas or readings, but the characters recounting the events of their respective stories to a therapist i.e. someone finally admitted that these stories are brutally dark. I was a little concerned at the description which says this series includes “some of the lesser-known” stories. I was afraid this would include Pig Robinson, which as my mum tells me is too long and boring and concerns “a pig that sits a chair and doesn’t actually do anything”. I actually have no memory of it from when I was a child so I take her word for it, and anyway that doesn’t feature.

Happy Birthday to my first artist love, #BeatrixPotter 🐰🌷🦊 . . . These are some of my most prized possessions given to me from my Nana Mildred. All from England. The book was an Easter present and I've tried to keep it in perfect condition since I was 8 years old. The porcelain figures are extremely rare from Brixton. There is also a Benjamin Bunny plush from the 40s she left to me when she passed away a few years ago at the incredible age of 101.
