[Collection of five Beatrix Potter books.]  Tale of Peter Rabbit -- Tale of Mrs. Tiggy Winkle -- Tale of Benjamin Bunny -- Tale of Squirrel Nutkin -- Tale of two bad mice.

While the animals in the stories are all wild and should not be pets, many people do keep domesticated versions of rabbits, hedgehogs and mice (although few keep squirrels nowadays).

Rabbits are especially popular, and I imagine that the tales of Peter's misadventures, as well as his more well-behaved siblings, have been the reason for some.

Did anyone have a favorite Beatrix Potter story?

This is part of a continuing series featuring pet minis in conjunction with the of the new pet themed exhibit that is now up in the reading room.

Almost 10 years ago, I drew Whoopee as a fierce Amazonian defeating a rat soldier. That was who Whoopee was. Not a day went by without a cockroach or mice, or the occasional huge rat lying dead in front of our bedroom door. Many years later, Whoopee has grown a lot older and weaker, but remains dignified and respected. A mentor to two young and fierce dachshunds who continue the noble (but gory) battle against evil house pests.
