Of course I can! And I love Beyond the Horizon, so you’re off to a good start already! I hope you enjoy these.
*Discovery, Discovery, Discovery by alchemystique
T. [1,677 words: Oneshot]. AU in which the curse never happened. - David and Emma have a dance lesson, but they’re both being distracted by Emma’s guest.
Why I love this: I’d recommend the whole series, actually. It has such a fantastic rapport between Emma and Killian - princess and pirate or not. Okay, and I might have audibly made squeaking noises at some parts of it. So sue me.
*I’ll Ask for the Sea by stalrua
Explicit. [171,572 words: MULTICHAPTER]. Fed up with the future her royal status holds for her, Princess Emma runs away and ends up in the port town of Tortuga. She grows up there, working as a barmaid with her friend Ruby, but a chance encounter with a charming pirate sets into motion events she never could’ve imagined and reminds her that she can’t run from who she is forever.
WARNINGS/KINKS/TRIGGERS (IF ANY): Graphic depictions of sex.
Why I love this: WHY DON’T I?! I love Emma’s characterization and the family unit she’s knitted with Ruby, Graham, and Granny. Her thought process feels so very Emma, frank and exasperated at times. I adore how Killian is so Killian too - immediately smitten with her and all rogue pirate. The plot is a really fun ride, too, even if sometimes an emotionally taxing one.
*The Swan-Feather Cloak by thejeweloftherealm
T. [51,532 words: MULTICHAPTER]. After breaking a curse cast by Rumplestiltskin, Princess Emma runs away from the palace in search of vengeance. Hiding her face under her cloak made of swan-feathers, she finds her way onto a pirate ship with a Captain that has a similar mission to her.
Why I love this: It sort of reminds me of this really old fairytale - The Coat of Many Colors? It had a sort of similar premise - where a princess runs away and takes a magical cloak with her to conceal her identity. Except this version is about a thousand times better. Killian - pirate or no - treats Emma with complete respect. They have a relationship based off of that respect, and that is so, so great to read. It also has sequels - which should be at the link!
*Walking on Water by Ms Starlight
Explicit. [102,019 words: WORK IN PROGRESS]. The war against the ogres is heating up, and Princess Emma has been dispatched to meet with a powerful nobleman whose magic powers might help win the battle. But her journey is interrupted when she is abducted by pirate captain Killian Jones, who has vowed vengeance against the Evil Queen, who he believes is responsible for his brother’s death.
WARNINGS/KINKS/TRIGGERS (IF ANY): Graphic depictions of sex.
Why I love this: I’m a little bit obsessed with this fic. I love how these two interact here and it’s such a classic adventure story - the plot is engaging and interesting and the characters mirror it perfectly. Both Killian and Emma retain who they are - alternate versions or not.
*Under the Crimson Flag by kissmelikeapirate
Explicit. [98,008 words: MULTICHAPTER]. Desperately running away from her past, Emma disguises herself as a boy and seeks an escape in the freedom of the open seas. All is well until she crosses paths with the infamous Captain Hook.
WARNINGS/KINKS/TRIGGERS (IF ANY): Graphic depictions of sex.
Why I love this: I’m due for a re-read, actually, but this fic still is so. freaking. good. The buildup between the two of them is everything and it’s just a really fun read.
* Dead Man’s Chest by andromeda3116
T. [22,708 words: WORK IN PROGRESS]. She just wanted to know how much she was really worth, underneath the wealth and the power, if Emma Alone was enough to get her to safe ground. Allowing herself to be kidnapped by a pirate may not have been the best way to go about finding that answer.
Why I love this: We will probably never get a resolution for this fic, but I still love it. I love it so much. I adore the style, I love the characterizations, and I’m here for everything about this fic.
