Yeah, it fits!
PANAMA CANAL, PANAMA (21 November 2018) -- Holland America Line’s magnificent cruise ship ms Zuiderdam looks way too big to fit into the Gatun Locks on the Caribbean end of the Panama Canal....almost any way you look at it.
But, she fits perfectly....with a foot or two extra room on each side when the ship is sitting squarely in one of these locks of the original Panama Canal.
In fact, this ship, like so many others (commercial, passenger and military), was built specifically (called PANAMAX) to be able to fit through the Panama Canal during the many decades before an additional, wider, set of locks was opened in 2016.
