Any kind of fan work you want to make is accepted.
I decided not to do ship specific weeks because the fandom is so small most of us ship cuddle bugs/Tithur or Artherkill with a few exceptions. If you want to make any of your pieces ship related I don’t mind.
Surpise surprise! A silly mini ficlet for Ms. Lint today under the cut!
Hospital Visit
Janet sat beside her ex husband’s hospital bed. He was struggling to come to for a while but now his eyes were open and focusing on her face. Derek blinked rapidly and started to sit up a little.
“You don’t want to do that, the platypus venom gives you vertigo-“
As if on command the room began spinning and he laid down flat on his back.
“What the hell happened? Platypus venom?” Derek’s voice cracked. “Was that the Terror?” The memory came flooding back to him of the famous face he caught a glimpse of before blacking out.
“Yes…” Janet picked a piece of stray lint from her cheek, nervously. “He… He came to see me. You kind of startled him.”
“I startled HIM? He’s supposed to be dead!” Derek was getting his bearings back now. The wrinkle faced supervillain had been in their shared lair. Derek had walked in from his morning jog to find his carton of soy milk out on the counter. When he lifted it to ask why it was out- the small, dark figure of The Terror spun around and threw darts into his face. That was the last thing he remembered.
“Well obviously he faked his death!” Janet sounded a little defensive, but was embarrassed for not realizing it sooner herself. “… Even I didn’t know all this time… If he was alive he could’ve said something! Didn’t have to make me feel like a moron…”
Derek rubbed his aching head and wiped some drool from his mouth.
“How long have I been out?”
“Just a few days… You’ll make a full recovery.” Janet said half heartedly, her mind elsewhere.
“So your ex is back in town and trying to win you back, huh?” Derek snuck a peep at her with one half lidded eye, still massaging his skull. Janet looked offended and shocked.
“My Ex what?” Her voice raised. “Mentor??” Derek chuckled.
“Oh come on Janet, you’ve always had a thing for him, and now he just waltzed back into your life and you’re thrilled about it.” Janet tried to hide a blush behind a shocked expression. “I can see it in your face. I’ve known you long enough, you know.”
“Whatever.” Janet adjusted her skirt and began aggressively dusting herself of lint in annoyance. After a few moments she thought of a retort. “I have… other prospects in mind at the moment.” She lifted her chin as if to look down on all the old drama.
Derek gave her a once over.
“It’s Overkill isn’t it?”
Janet looked like she was about to fall out of her seat.
“… If you must know I- How the hell did you know that?”
Derek laughed again.
“You don’t harbor any secrets, I’ve seen you fawn over him in the past. You remember that jewel heist to fund Ramses’ little office redecoration? The two of you are equally terrible at flirting.”
Janet didn’t know what to be more offended about. She was beginning to feel like Derek could sum up her whole existence without even really paying much attention to her at all. It’s not as though he followed her around. They had been divorced several years, though they’d been roommates ever since, most of their day to day lives he hardly even looked her in the eye. He was just too damn observant and familiar with her.
“What’s it to you anyway!” She snapped, shooting a glance at the door as if she was ready to dart out of the room any minute.
“Calm down, I don’t mean anything by it… here.” He scooted his rolling side table toward her with a lunch someone apparently left for him there. “You can have my jello.” After an intense pause of full on eye contact, Janet snatched the jello and began eating.
“I just think you ought to be honest with yourself, Janet. I believe you like Overkill, but you know you like Terror too.” She stopped eating as if to protest his words. “You came here to check on me, but you still felt like you had to defend him.”
“He’s the world’s most wanted man, Derek. No one gets the slip on The Terror. You just can’t walk into a room with him with his back turned an-”
“No, no I understand it’s ok. I’m not angry…” Derek sighed. He really wasn’t. He’d worked for Terror before, setting up the internet at his old lair. He was an okay dude if you didn’t mind all the evil. “Look, you’re right, it’s got nothing to do with me, it’s not my business, and I really don’t care ultimately but.. You’ve been miserable for… over a decade honestly.” Janet was paused by this. “We might not even be able to call each other friends at this point, but we tolerate each other well enough I guess. My point is, I’ve seen you miserable and I’ve seen you happy and I know Terror makes you happy and I know Overkill could probably too, but for the love of buddha, Janet… Please stop playing coy??”
Janet looked down right ashamed.
“Now… Do you know which one you like more?”
After a long pause she cleared her throat,
“Well… The Terror is kind of my boss and he’s a much older man, so I don’t really know that he’s interested in me, I mean I’m much older than the last time we worked together… and Overkill isn’t really a villain so that could complicate my work.” Derek gave her another once over.
“You can’t decide because you love them both.”
“I love them both!” Janet yelled into the palms of her hands as she hung her head in her lap.
