Four Essential Costume Tips & Tricks From Mseasy
With years of experience under her belt, Mseasy can confidently say she has encountered nearly every type of behind-the-scenes emergency scenario before a performance. Throughout her time as a performer, she has endured a series of wardrobe malfunctions which have, in turn, helped her innovate quick and easy fixes to keep the show running. Who better to give you some Tips & Tricks this Halloween than a seasoned veteran?
Check out Mseasy’s 4 Essential Tips below for some awesome insight into keeping your outfit looking on point as you dance through the night this Saturday at Escape.
1. Fabric
Fabric choice can be difficult for those who plan on dancing. It has been a challenge for me to constantly create costumes that not only look amazing, but can suit a dancers movements and keep them from being inhibited during a performance. Choose cottons, acrylics, nylon, polyester, and spandex for movement, strength, and breathability.
2. Makeup
It can be nearly impossible to not mess up your makeup when dancing! However, there are some tricks that can help your face stay on while performing or dancing the night away. If you happen to be dressing up as a clown this Halloween, primers and prep are the best way to keep makeup on your face. Try Ben NYE neutral set to lightly dust over your makeup, followed by a layer of Final Seal. Still sweating? Try spraying the face lightly with spray-on deodorant before applying makeup.
3. Costume Repair
Be prepared! Make sure you aren’t caught off guard with a costume malfunction while dancing. Bring back up clips, bobby pins and items like duct tape for costume emergencies!
4. Quick Tip
Take your own mirror. You can find a small compact mirror in most department stores and shops.
