My motorcycle helmet is coming on monday/Tuesday and I'm using my birthday money along with my first paycheck to pay for the MSF class! That much closer to riding and I can't wait :D
getting over the fear
For the past three months, I’ve been scared of getting back on the bike because of my fall. I’m scared of dislocating my elbow again. I’m scared of hurting the bike. I’m scared that I won’t be able to do it.
Riding is about conquering your fears. It’s about looking something dead in the eye and saying “YOU DON’T CONTROL ME”. When you let the fear control you, that fear also controls the bike.
I recently tried to take the Motorcycle Safety Foundations course, and got through one day of riding. On the second day, we had to ride in wide turns around the parking lot in second gear, while picking up speed on the straight aways and braking at the curves. Something snapped in my mind and I couldn’t make the turns correctly. I believe this is still the fear controlling me.
I got on a bike and got my feet off of the ground and even made some turns the day before. I know now that I have it in me to become a true rider, just taking it steps at a time. The journey is long.
It is slowly approaching...
TOMORROW, class begins!!!! I'm nervous but excited. It's only supposed to rain on Sunday so maybe it won't be so bad. Hoping for the best! I really want to learn to ride. :)
