Angband (SDL2 front-end, compiled in MSYS2)
Past few days I’d been looking for a nice-looking 2D graphical fantasy game to play. Looked through all the cross-reference results of “Fantasy” “Action” “Adventure” “2D” “Role-playing” on GOG, nothing quite met whatever weird parameters my dumb head has. Then I realized the game I’ve been playing in old-timey ASCII mode has optional graphics and sound that I’d always poo-pooed.
Old roguelike Angband’s silky-smooth-looking SDL2 front end is kinda laggy for me under Cygwin and WSL Ubuntu, but compiled via MSYS2 it’s just as crisp as the messy standard Windows version–except that sound support hadn’t been implemented. Until today! Woo. Thanks backwardsEric : D https://github.com/backwardsEric/angband/blob/msys2-sdl2-sound/src/Makefile.msys2.sdl2
