Close encounter with a White Necked Heron. The neck markings indicate that it's in the non-breeding season. I was shooting with a 600mm lens and it kept flying within the minimum focal distance, 3 meters, and then turning away. Of 20 high speed shots, these are the only two that turned out. Mt. Isa.

Even when I'm looking for other birds, these keep flinging themselves into my viewfinder. Not as raucous or as agressive as the Rainbow Lorikeets. Cute and very very photogenic.
