In addition to retro-style cycling apparel, Wieleroutfits offers a wide range of retro-style clothing. Want to find a particular brand? Here is a list of all our brands. An MTB jersey is a great way to increase comfort and style. A jersey is usually made from lightweight, moisture-wicking material that will keep you cool when the weather heats up. Consider a short sleeve jersey for summer rides, or a long sleeve jersey if you want extra warmth and protection. Mountain bike jerseys come in a variety of styles, from form-fitting XC options to bulkier long sleeve downhill models. Most brands offer a variety of colors and designs so that you can find one that suits your style. The price of the jersey isn't as high as you might think. You can find top brands at reasonable prices in online shops, and you can buy last year's stock at a discount as well.
Mountain bike jerseys: what you need to look for
Fabrics that wick sweat away from the body are good, but how fast they dry once the moisture is removed is also an important factor. You will experience chills if you let anything stay wet for too long. The feature of antibacterial treatments is also useful. Despite their effectiveness at transporting sweat, fabrics can eventually begin to smell. It's happened to all of us halfway through a ride when our armpits overtook us. However, this need not be the case. Additionally, you might want to consider the material's weight. Summer months can be quite warm when wearing heavier fabrics. A lighter mesh is cooler and lighter but less durable.
A jersey might combine several fabrics to employ some of the benefits of each - a solid knit through the body with mesh inserts under the arms or down the sides, and durable shoulder and sleeve panels to avoid pack rub. The sleeves were quite impressive too since they did not ride up to our arms, even when I was jiggling around over rough terrain. Sweat saturated the fabric, causing it to take a long time to dry and causing it to increase noticeably in weight. Although the cut is tight, it can be worn under body armor if you size up. We also found that the rear of the jersey needed constant adjustment as we trekked, which was irritating.
THE UPPER BODY
The jersey is the most important part of your mountain biking outfit for your upper body. There are different characteristics for cross-country, enduro, and downhill skiing. When riding cross-country we prefer a close-fitting jersey (as we do on the road), when riding enduro or DH, we can opt for a loose-fitting jersey.
Whenever possible, you should choose a jersey that is lightweight and breathable to avoid being too hot while you are riding. It will have pockets in the back, so you can store your personal items there. Jerseys are available with short sleeves, sleeveless versions in summer, or long sleeves (in winter). If you are using a technical undergarment under your jersey in the summer or winter, it will help your jersey wick away sweat and regulate your body temperature. A summer shirt may be sleeveless or short-sleeved, while a winter shirt may be long-sleeved and made from a thermal material to keep you warm.
Wearing a thermal jacket in winter is the best way to keep warm while riding. A thermal jacket will keep you warm during the winter months. Even three layers of clothing are recommended during the coldest part of the year:
Undergarments with technical characteristics;
It consists of a long-sleeved jersey;
Wear a thermal jacket;
Investing in waterproof gear and a windbreaker during the midseason when the weather is unstable or changeable will allow you to ride wind-free and dry no matter what the weather has to offer.
Just say NO to Cotton!
I'm going to start by saying that cotton is a horrible material for activewear. It is perspiration absorbing. And sweat causes your clothes to get wet. After your clothes are wet, they stay wet. Furthermore, cotton takes a long time to dry out, and it does not do a very good job of cooling you when the water evaporates. If you're on a trail, pay attention to people who are exercising. There will be dark sweat marks on their bodies! Materials such as Lycra, Spandex, Nylon, Merino Wool, and Polyester take the moisture off the skin, transfer it to the outer layer, and then evaporate it into the air. You also cool down thanks to this process of transfer-evaporation, just like sweat does! Cotton is not designed to do so!
It’s all about comfort.
How does cycling clothing differ from other types of clothing? It isn't always the "racing stuff."There is aerodynamic clothing with ridiculously advanced engineering. Nevertheless, cycling apparel is primarily intended to enhance the experience of riding. Cycling clothing is designed to keep you comfortable, help you ride longer, and increase your efficiency on the bike, no matter how good you are. Whether you're riding around the neighborhood or across the country, riding in comfortable cycling clothing will benefit you.
What to look for when choosing your perfect MTB jersey
Your ride will be much more comfortable and enjoyable if you choose the right cycling jersey. It is still possible to ride in a t-shirt, but cotton absorbs sweat and holds it against your skin, resulting in a cold, clammy ride. If you ride in any way, there is a jersey that's been designed specifically for you
Material comparison - synthetic vs. natural
Originally, motocross jersey were made from wool, which had the potential to be itchy and stinky.
A synthetic blend is used in most modern cycling jerseys. It is possible to design synthetic fabrics to wick sweat away, keeping you dry and comfortable. Fabric blends can be tailored to meet specific weather conditions. Based on when and where you'll be riding, choose a suit with water resistance, wind resistance, and breathability.
Merino wool cycling jerseys are a great choice for those who prefer natural fibres. Adapted to winters with cold temperatures and summers with hot temperatures, the wool of the Merino sheep naturally wicks away moisture to keep them warm.
As it is naturally odour-resistant, it makes it an excellent base layer for travellers, especially if you plan to wear the same one for several days at a time. The soft, breathable nature of Merino wool makes it an excellent material for sensitive skin.
Cycling jerseys made from merino wool generally use a blend of merino and synthetic yarns for added durability and strength
Is there a right way to fit a road cycling jersey?
Fitted to the position you'll be riding in, the cut is optimized for comfort. So that your back is covered, cycling jerseys are typically longer at the back than the front.
If you bend over the handlebars, the excess fabric can cause discomfort, so the front might even seem a little short
Upon standing upright, you may find that the fabric is tight across the shoulders. Try the jersey on from a riding position if you want to be sure.
Choosing a jersey should be based on what kind of riding you will be doing. If you'll be stopping at a cafe for coffee during a sociable ride, a looser fit may make you feel less self-conscious. Racing might benefit from a tight aero-fit.
Consider whether you should wear long sleeves or short sleeves based on the weather. Adding arm-warmers or clever layering allows you to wear short-sleeved jerseys throughout most of the year.
The features and technologies
A good gripper and a good hem
Clothing that rides up while you're out on your bike is an unwelcome distraction. The hemline and sleeve ends of most cycling jerseys are gripped with silicone grippers. For an aerodynamic advantage, performance and race-cut jerseys may also include 'laser cut' sleeves.
Seams that lay flat
It is important for cycling jersey seams to lay flat so chafing can be minimized.
Enhanced visibility
Think about wearing brighter colours and reflective details if you plan to ride in low light conditions.
Zipper at the front:
While on long, hot rides, you can cool off with the full-length zip. You should look for jerseys with a 'zip garage' to avoid irritation to your neck and chin.
Jersey pockets
The majority of road jerseys have three back pockets for spare parts and food. Many models will include an additional zippered pocket for cash and valuables. Because winter jersey pockets are weatherproof, your phone might be safe in there.
The ability to withstand wind and water
Although wind- and water-resistant materials are generally designed to be breathable, you may find lighter-weight panels on the underarms or the back to further aid ventilation.
SPF protection
It's important to remember your jersey can be penetrated by the sun's rays if it's sunny. SomSeveral fabrics now come with built-in protection against the sun.
Cycling jerseys with short sleeves as alternatives
A cat may be skinned in many different ways. If you don't want to wear long sleeves, then you can add arm warmers to your collection to create a similar effect. As you cross the boundary from winter to spring or summer to autumn, these will extend the life of your wardrobe in many ways. The combination of our Orkaan arm warmers and our short sleeve Cycling jersey provides the benefit of greater versatility than the long sleeve Cycling jersey.
It is not uncommon for people to transition directly from a summer jersey. I personally find this to be a bit overly warm for anything other than what it is intended for - use during the coldest of However, we also have a very good winter jacket, so that's another story! Very good, which is another story altogether!
Jerseys with long sleeves from Bodyline
Besides the stolen goat, Bodyline has also presented the long sleeve jersey. In some ways, this is a more versatile and closer fitting shirt than thermal LS jerseys. People love the way our Bodyline summer jerseys feel and fit because of the sleeves. These armbands are made from a specially formulated Lycra blend. Although it has long sleeves, it is not as thick as the thermal jerseys - it is similar to our summer jerseys in weight. This makes it ideal for riding on its own in early autumn and late spring. This will feel so good when temperatures aren't quite warm enough to wear a summer jersey alone. Additionally, if you're riding in the super hot sun, wearing thin arm warmers instead of thick ones can keep you a little bit safer on all-day excursions.
When temperatures drop below 5 degrees, this jersey will feel beautiful under one of our climb & conquer winter jackets. It will feel better than a standard thermal jersey as the fit is that little bit closer, allows your skin to breathe that little bit more and in general feels like pure luxury!
What are the advantages of MTB trousers over shorts?
When riding wet trails, trousers are the best choice because they keep your legs warm, dry, and clean. By removing your MTB pants after a ride, you make sure that all of the mud goes with them instead of remaining on your legs.
A great alternative to shorts during the colder months are mountain bike trousers, also known as MTB clothing. The technology of full-length MTB trousers has advanced greatly in recent years, and many riders prefer the feel of them over shorts, especially in the cooler months. It is now common for downhill racers to wear race pants, and many trail riders are also reaping the benefits.
They provide a good fit and a comfortable fit for efficient pedaling and easy riding on a bike. The fit tends to be slim to prevent unwanted flapping, but their technical fabrics and cycling-specific cut ensure mobility on the bike without restricting movement.
The stretch
To maintain an efficient fit on the bike, the fabric needs to allow for plenty of freedom of movement. High-end trousers have more overall stretch than lower-end ones for improved comfort on bikes. Stretch panels give you the movement you need. The best fit can be acquired by buying 4-way stretch fabrics.
The fabric should be tear-resistant
The trousers will endure the rigors of mountain biking and racing thanks to their tough fabric. MTB shorts made from the best materials won't tear if they catch on vegetation or if they fall. If you want the best performance, choose ripstop, Cordura, and Kevlar fabrics.
Resistant to water
Water will not stick to the best MTB trousers, so you will remain dry when the trails get wet. In the UK, full waterproofs are only needed when it's raining hard, but a waterproof rear panel and water-resistant fabric will keep you comfortable year-round. Pants that are completely waterproof have waterproof membranes and taped seams. Waterproof panels and DWR coating are good indicators.
Fitness
You will feel much more comfortable on the bike with a custom on-the-bike fit. A 4-way stretch fabric will keep you from flapping about in the wind and snagging in your chain because it has a slim fit.
Adjusting the waist/ankle
A tapered ankle is common on MTB trousers to prevent snagging on the bike. Some may have Velcro tabs or zips around the ankle to adjust the fit depending on how stretchy the fabric is. The waist can be adjusted with a ratchet-style buckle, a Boa fastener, Velcro tabs, or simply by a button and fly.
The Venting and Breathability of a Vehicle
Designed with breathable fabrics and venting systems, MTB pants keep you cool as you crank up the heat on your bike. A mesh-back pocket can sometimes also serve as a ventilation system. DH pants typically have thicker fabrics and are less breathable than trail trousers.
Different features
Your ride essentials can be safely stored in zipped pockets. Mesh backing means that pockets can often double as vents when they are not in use. There are MTB trousers with specific ventilation that is either always open or can be zipped up when the weather gets cooler. You can often pull waterproof trousers over your shoes using the zips on the lower legs.
Pants for mountain biking
MTB trousers are most robust when it comes to downhills and freeride. Made of tough fabrics, they are designed to withstand the rigors of DH racing. Despite the tough fabrics, the trousers are still very comfortable. DH race pants have evolved from the MX race pants that they were inspired by to become comfortable, hardwearing, and easy to ride in.
Pants that are water-resistant
While regular MTB trousers are great for dealing with most conditions, they soon reach their limits when the rain gets serious. Full waterproof trousers are designed to keep you dry in the wettest conditions. Higher-end waterproofs are more breathable and may also have some stretch for a better fit and a more comfortable feel.
