Magic: the Gathering - Tank of Jank
Saw this deck at Friday Night Magic last evening. It had my curiosity, and after I reviewed the list, it now has my attention. As these are all commons / uncommons, it is most definitely within the realm of budget, and I just might take it for a spin. If wins a match, I will be manically laughing all the way home.
Oh hey there, Tumblr. Please enjoy this very large One-Headed/One-Eyed Boy from Ravnica Allegiance!
When you take the homunculus and then you make it very large.. well you see what happens.
Let’s Talk About the Forgotten Gods
With the new set coming our way we had a very interesting card that opens up some discussion about Ravnica’s forgotten old gods, but I feel like most people have gotten this all wrong so here is my take.
Let’s start with the flavour text pointing out that some being is more ancient than any religion of Ravnica, possibly multiple of them too. All powerful entities most likely in a deep slumber, forgotten away, waiting to rise up. What is even more interesting is the art, which honestly has enough clues to figure out one of those old gods if you know where to look.
Other than being an amazing artwork all around, this gives us A LOT of information about a deity revered by this cultist. There are 3 MAJOR elements that I want to go over and I’ll reach my conclusion on who exactly, without a doubt, is one of the forgotten gods.
The dagger is a dead giveaway to start with; it’s curve aspect couldl make you imagine it represents a snake, or a wurm, but I think it relates to a tail; that the elder being has a tail appendage, and the blood is meant to show that what follows the god is only death in it’s path.
The lion heads are not even subtle, obviously meaning that the elder being has some sort of lion head, or at least majestic animal-like, and the blood means that it is a relentless god, who would not hesitate to punish the ones who don’t follow it’s word. This god was most likely feared by all.
And lastly, the patterns with which the bodies are bound, with a nice perfect triangle. This could make you believe the god had 3 of something, like heads or something, but I think it’s obviously representing wings. This all powerful being could soar above the land and wreak destruction in it’s path.
With all that being said I think we all know exactly who the elder god was, and we’re all patiently waiting for it to come back and claim it’s power upon Ravnica...
IT WAS PHELDDAGRIF ALL ALONG

So something you may have missed, an unassuming reprint with some cool continuity, showing the same group of warriors practicing and improving between sets.
