TVNEWSER's product-market fit
TVNEWSER is an inspiring example of finding what you do well, and finding the perfect market fit for your expertise. TVNEWSER may not be the next Mashable or SAI mega-site, but it's a great example of helping people and doing what you do well. Often our society is forced (by media I suppose) to try to generate maximum exposure, maximum status, or maximum monetary gain. When, in fact the most peaceable and helpful solutions start of with a niche market and niche problem set to solve. The kid's (I guess I'm a little old enough to say it now) blog is a perfect example of finding one's identity, not for the sake of status or wealth, but for the sake of serving anthers needs. Sure, it may not be everyone's perfect example of humanitarianism, but I can see how he has helped out a select group of people's daily lives.
This is what building online networks and communities is all about. What else should the internet be used for, but to bring communities together on the same accord and server their needs. Yes, information is widely available on the internet without the help of actual communities, but the very next best thing one could do with his time on the internet is to connect with others in their real-life communities, whether it be professional, religious, hobbies or whatever.
It is very refreshing to see someone be totally committed to providing the best value for a somewhat small set of people. Sure, he may not (or may) make a fortune on his website, butI think that's the point. Do not make a product or community solely for the sake of mass adoption. It is just as beneficial to make 300 people happy as it is to make 1 billion feel ok. His humbling attitude (as I read) that he takes to make each contributor feel at home is a lesson we can all take. Our occupation is not about making ourselves feel swell or to further our identity forcefully. It is more beneficial to take the attitude of this young man's interaction with the community he has became such a staple of.
