ok, i’ve been banging my head on the wall for a few days, and i think i finally understand what happened here

dar prime joins the federated alliance and gets shot just to the left of their brain in their first mission

literally everything between the pilot and last episode happens

dar prime goes back in time five minutes to stop dar beta from demoting pleck. they get along like a house on fire

dar prime and dar beta are taken further back in time to the pilot episode

dar prime and dar beta’s presence in the past interfered with events enough such that past!dar prime got shot fatally

dar prime asks aj to shoot them to the left of their brain and leaves the crew to get on past!bargie

dar beta comes back to the present with the crew

in the current timeline, dar prime did everything prior to their meeting with dar beta, at which point dar beta took over for them since they had to replace past!dar prime. however, this is a mostly inconsequential since dar beta is just dar prime from five minutes earlier, and up to the point in their timeline, they were dar prime.
