Wasps are really chill and cute actually.

Turns out you can just get right up to wasp nests and stare at them and they don't give a fuck. They're also super so cute up close when they clean themselves. People will call anything that can defend itself evil.

A potter wasp made her mud nests in a pile of branches on my patio! I think the lady wandering around was one of the babies (all grown up now!). I think most people are familiar with the paper wasps who live in large colonies, but not the solitary wasps who make mud nests. I didn’t know about potter wasps until I saw these and (by chance) flipped through a book and saw familiar photos of the nests. July 5, 2018

I do not accept my new mud wasp overlords. I try to admire them and they bite my face :(

Sadly this is the best pic I have of something that was quite beautiful, and this does not do it justice.  Mud wasp nests found in the roof of my garage when I removed some paneling. All the different colours.  Especially the two front (blurry dammit) one where the wasps must have been using different source materials as they built.
