Tomorrow!
This is my race review of the first 3 races I have done this year, I'll start with the last one I did and work my way back. #obstruction run How do I start this one, well I was told before running this race that it was there first year which quickly became apparent, the obstacles were a bit poor, they weren't very well thought up or constructed looking like they had been made in a shed the week before. The race was slowed down by what poor obstacles they had made not been very big so most of them were one person at a time, also they used squats and push ups as obstacles each time you got to a marshal they would tell u what and how meany to do. At one point some one asked how meany to do and the marshal said "100 but I'm not counting so do what you want" which I didn't think was very helpful at all. But the big problem was the race was meant to be 5 or 10 k splitting in the race so that the 10k runners did the extra but thanks to some bad course markings and marshals I only ended up doing 6-7k. The races tag line was earn your stripes which made you think it was it would challenge which this was not, all in all not a very good race didn't even get my beer and hot pork sandwich that was in with price as there was no pork and no one could get the beer out. A wast of my day of and £25. #major series This like most runs was a 5 or 10k race as I was injured me and my team just did the 5k. I'll start with the warm up on this one, I've never done a warm up we're you high 5 people and wiggle your bum which I think the people who where doing it for a giggle enjoyed but there was a few groups around with us at the back that would have liked a proper warm up so we could race (which is the part we find fun racing). On to the race I thought it was good a proper mud run when I say this I know they are all mud/obstacle runs but this one didn't have meany obstacles and consented on the mud part.lots of water going in and out of a cold lake and lots of muddy hills. The natural land was used very well with some very steep that we had to get your breath back as you got to the top. The marshals where all very good constantly trying to spier you on. What little man made obstacles that we had to do where well made. The only one bad thing I don't know if it was how the waves had started or if it was just cause it was just after the 10-5k runs had joined the same path agin but a the end there was two long cues for the wet slide and barbed wire crawl which killed any chance of a fast time. Lost of people hung around the finish line so was it was grate running across the line to cheering. I like the medals which had been made into dog tags which was fun, over all a good race will do it agin if you are looking for a muddy mud run then I would do this. #pandemonium This was my first mud run/obstacle race of the year and again as with the major race which was two weeks later I was injured from doing a road run a week before, so I only did the 5k run which killed me to get round but I had paid for it weeks before so I was running no matter what. I thought I'd get that injury moan out of the way because I can't wait to go back in I think August to do the 10k race. I would say its a proper obstacle race, with part you could open your legs up and get a good run going but then new obstacles I've not done before. They again used the natural environment very well use the hills to run up and the mounds of land to crawl up. The lake you had to swim across was very very cold I can't stress that any more, the only problem you had is they had put a net across the bitten of the lake to help you wade across if you didn't want swim but this was more of a hindrance than help as meany ppl got there feet stuck, but in a massage after the race they said they found this to be a problem and wouldn't be doing it again, in such a young age of this sport these are the things you try that if they work great if not you don't do it agin. That was the only problem I had the other obstacles were very good I did a few different ones last year and this race had a few I had never seen before. This race was good all rounder to get a good time you needed to be a good runner and have a bit of explosive strength to get up some of the obstacle. This cost £25-£30 which was well worth it the top and Medal where nice well designed. The event village wasn't very big but had all the thing you need some place to change and leave your bags and 2 warm food and drinks tents. I would highly recommend this race and I will be doing this agin if an injured me can come 7th 1:30min behind 1st I know I can do well. So come all to this great event. That's it my review done the good the bad and the ugly but all done. Ive got a few more races to to this next few months and I will try do the review once I have done them so it's not a long as this one. To all my mud run friends keep going and have fun.
