Guess who remembers how Paint 3D works and is afflicted with more visions of his girls?
More thoughts below.
Credits for render locations are below as well.
One of the things that has me so enraptured with them is how much thought I've been putting into the ways that they interact with each other in my Transformers x Dragon Ball AU.
It starts with Nion and Fasha being mutual acquaintances turned friends through their connection to Bardock, who goes to Nion a lot for checkups on Raditz and Goku when they're kids... and also himself because he keeps getting his teeth kicked in; Gine and Nion are in the same boat by extension, while Gine and Fasha are childhood buddies who drifted apart when Gine left the squad.
Cut back to a few years later when Bardock gets visions of his friends, family, homeworld, and everything and everyone else he cares about dying by the servos of the Decepticons; by this point, he's become a scared and scattered mess who's paranoid, distant for the sake of keeping everyone aroud him from being caught up in the splash zone, and yet also exceedingly clingy and controlling because he doesn't want to see them die and not be there to protect them.
Gine's feeling it the worst along with Fasha; it's something for them both to bond over, and Nion tends to offer her sympathies for them as best as a Saiyan can when King Vegeta III's still reining and Planet Vegeta isn't space dust yet.
Cut to Cereal, where Gine and Fasha have to fight alongside Muezli to save her, Monaito, and Granolah from dying to the combined efforts of Dead End and Breakdown; there's a few moments of Fasha making comments about Muezli being pretty cute in spite of their situation and, you know... the Saiyans having killed her people. There's confusion there, but she has to stifle that for a while because the Decepticons are more pressing.
Cut to Planet Meat after that, where Fasha's remembering the good times she used to have with Bardock and how they've unintentionally brought her closer to Gine... only to then be suddenly ambushed by a waiting Dodoria (not that bad) and then they all get ambushed after by Overlord (VERY BAD). Bardock saves her and the rest of his squad, but it was close. Just barely.
Then we cut to Planet Vegeta in the midst of being invaded by the Decepticons; Bardock's a Super Saiyan barely able to fight off two whole Combiners, but that's a whole other story. The more important one is Gine, Nion, and that lizard doctor and old man doctor from the Bardock Special escaping Planet Vegeta's imminent demise along with baby Goku.
They land on Earth, where Muezli's been since she's had to leave Cereal due to it ALSO being overtaken by Decepticons; she was able to leave before things got bad thanks to the help of the Galactic Patrol's equivlanet of the Ginyu Force (Jaco, Chiwak, Irico, Calamis, Jiya) having found her a new backwater planet to live with Monaito and Granolah.
I don't go into too much detail about the next twelve years, but they live together and work together at Capsule Corp; Nion's a scientist, Muezli and Gine are caretakers of the house and for Bulma. It's nice, and they get to train in a special room made just for them too. There's a friendship that forms there, and it slowly but surely gives way to a three way crush that no one acts upon because they're all STUPID (affectionate).
This is how it goes for a long, long time until Monstructor comes around to replace King Piccolo and... kills Muezli and Nion in front of Gine, causing her to crash out and hit False Super Saiyan to force Monstructor into the Dead Zone after far too long of a struggle alongside Omega Supreme, Fortress Maximus, and a newly formed Computron.
Gine feels SO MUCH GUILT for having failed to save either of her girl BEST FRIENDS, but resolves to simply put ALL of her efforts into getting stronger for their sake and those around them as well (but especially for them); Muezli and Nion keep beating themselves up because THEY WERE TOO WEAK TO KEEP GINE FROM FEELING LIKE THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE.
So it's just a lot of messy self-hatred and self-disgust that NOT EVEN FASHA'S REALLY SAFE FROM; after all, she's still alive and on Yardrat alongside the rest of the Bardock Squad (minus Bardock himself, because he died defending Vegeta; WHOOPS) while having been unable to do anything to find Gine and Nion. And SURE, she knows that it's objectively not because of her inability that she can't find them, BUUUUT... her mind's stinky like that.
Cut to the arc running parallel to Namek: THE RACE TOWARDS PLANET SIMANZI. Gine and Nion have a lovely reunion with Fasha (cue Muezli being jelly) while the latter pair get acquainted (cue Fasha being jelly). Things are tense but they settle into a rhythm of ripping and tearing through the Decepticon forces until... YOU GUESSED IT.
Gine dies fighting a Scorponok whose soul has merged with that of a Titan's, thus igniting a legendary crashout from Fasha, Nion, and Muezli as they ascend into Super Saiyan for the former pair and Super Cerealian for the latter; Goku, Vegeta, and Granolah are doing the same thing on Namek against Lord Slug, but you don't need to worry too much.
This same crashout is backed by a Fifth Form Cooler, who's turned into it after witnessing Sauza die (parallels Ginyu in Frieza's body on Namek after Jeice kicks the bucket, but again, don't worry about that); MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL is the fact that Gine died saving them from their own seemingly imminent demises.
INSERT MORE GUILT AND SELF HATRED OVER SELF-PERCEIVED AND SELF-IMPOSED WEAKNESSES THAT DON'T REALLY EXIST.
WHICH ONLY START TO BECOME LESS EXACERBATED WHEN NOVA PRIME (in Garlic Jr's body) MAKES HIS DEBUT AND TEARS UP THE EARTH.
Gine, Muezli, Nion, and Fasha are lucky that they'd been diving while the Black Water Mist was spreading, but that leaves them the only ones able to fend off the planet; they do fine, but they're clearly on the losing side.
It's only when Gine sees the latter trio about to die because she was too weak to assist and save the girls she loves (where did that come from) by ascending into the form of legend for her people herself as a result of the sheer rage and frustration that'd been building within her.
Garlic Jr carrying Nova Prime's spark is gone, Gine's gotten stronger and can stand alongside her girls, and all is well. They learn to find their groove together once again, but it's never quite the same... especially when it's accompanied by butterflies in their stomachs around each other, faces that burn bright red with blusehs every time they see one another in their full glory, and more envy and suspiscion at the way that Future Trunks describes how they were in his timeline.
It's... not like they'd found anyone to call their loves, did they?
But they don't have time to think about that. Not with the Androids, the Stentarians (a new species of Cybertronian created by Jhiaxus from the corpses of his people and whatever spark signatures they left behind during the Great War), and then... Cell.
Who actually DOES give them time in the form of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to sort out their problems... which they do... after a lot of fighting, screaming, and A LOT OF CRYING. Along with some really messy declarations of love.
And getting freaky, but we don't talk about that too much.
Piccolo hears most of it though. He doesn't vibe.
It's from there that they start to really explore what it's like to be together, to live together, and to have each other to call their own. It's... messy at first, but that's love in a nutshell. And it's all made worth it when they finally have a wedding... courtesy of Bulma, who decided to blow it up well past the small proportion's they'd initially requested. The fact that it was spurred on by the big threat between Cell (made by Gero, improved and stolen by Jhiaxus) and Majin Buu (alongside Janemba, Nova Prime for real, Galvatron, Cycnlous, and Scourge, albeit to a far lesser extent with the last two and an interesting twist for the first).
Their adventures don't end there though: battling with Beerus, fighting in a rematch against the enhanced Cell with his battle potential having lonve since gone into overdrive.
Gine gets a fire themed Super Saiyan 4; Fasha's is geokinetic; Nion's is cryokinetic; and finally, Muezli's equivalent to their elemental Super Saiyan 4s is lightning derived.
They struggle against Moro.
They stand against the son of Unicron.
And all the while more... they do it TOGETHER.
And this is only just one AU of them that I have inside of my head.
I think of them in stories where their love is toxic, obsessive, and outright horrendous for everyone except each other's. Where they would and already have undoubtedly killed for one another. Where they've already done so, so much worse.
I think of their love being absolutely sappy stuff you'd find in the background as gags; just imagine them being teachers in some high school romcom and whoever the protagonist is, you can ALWAYS see them loving each other with everything they can possibly have to offer.
I think of so many, MANY things. Things like where they'd travel, what they'd love to do together, if they'd open a business together. And most of all... I like to think about how they'd react to them being so rare. So unusual. So... odd compared to the rest of what's out there.
They are characters who mean a lot to me, and I don't know why. Maybe I never will or maybe I'll figure it out immediatley after this. Probably somewhere in the middle.
But man...
This shit rocks.
