i know hanzo is the one with the okami skin, but hoo boy i love me that werewolf jesse mccree

retired cowboy moves to the coast because he hears the ocean air is good for you, ends up accidentally catching a grumpy merman while trying to teach himself how to fish

who’s the witch and who’s the familiar

jesse puts up the front that he’s kind of bumbling through his magic and doing accidentally and he runs like…a folk remedy store and familiar/shapeshifter hanzo is just like “oh jeez, better make sure this idiot isn’t accidentally killing anyone while playing with powers he doesn’t understand.” but then he finds out that…the cowman is actually really competent not only with magic but with medicine as well

hanzo would inject caffeine into his bloodstream if it wouldn’t kill him. jesse is just as bad, and has the worst coffee breath ever, but he’s also really really good at making up all those weird flavored coffees 

who’s the professor and who’s the TA

no, but consider: hanzo who gives archery lessons and jesse who teaches people how to shoot at the local shooting range and hanzo thinks they’re rivals 

who’s the knight and who’s the prince(ss)

both are knights who keep bumping into each other on their adventures and end up saving each other’s asses so many times that they just don’t bother keeping count anymore

i could see it going either way, but i kinda like the idea of teacher mccree, who wears cowboy boots to class every day and who insists his students call him by his first name, and who has a very different teaching style. and Concerned Parent™ hanzo

who’s the writer and who’s the editor

jesse mccree has an old poetic soul and has put out a number of poems about the desert, war, love, and loss. he’s also got a book of silly ones that are mostly fart and dick jokes. hanzo is a very tired editor

mira is definitely the werewolf. i don’t think lukas would be a hunter tho. idk he’d probs be working with ben (since ben is still studying magical creatures in the ambition project that’s just who he is) and they’re called in to investigate the disappearance of cattle or something idk man

but just imagine the initial meeting…lukas is out in the woods early the morning after a full moon looking for hair or excrement and…he finds mira wandering through the woods, all dirty and with leaves and twigs sticking out of her hair (she’s been shifting long enough to know to change out of her clothes before the shift so she doesn’t rip anything. she lost one of her favorite blouses the first time)

i’d be lying if i hadn’t thought about merman lukas and fisherman mira before. he gets tangled in her nets (like an idiot) and she’s just like “…nOPE!” and tries to physically throw him back in the water

lmao it really wouldn’t matter because whichever one is the familiar would be snarking at the witch one, but i’d go with mira as the witch just because her magic is more potent than lukas’s. and lukas as her big, fluffy, grumpy norwegian forest cat familiar

i….actually don’t feel like a coffeeshop au as we know it would work well enough for these two. i feel like petty co-workers, constantly bickering and messing with each other but who also always have each other’s backs is more their style.

they’re both professors and most students going for a certain major will usually have them both at some point, where they learn that Prof. Black and Prof. Stenberg have one of the most intense rivalries they’ve ever seen. there are two bets going around: one on which one will end up killing the other first, and the other on when they’re gonna end up sleeping together

gather ‘round children, as i recite to you the tale of the brave ser mira and the son of a jarl as they fight against darkness and evil to defeat the necromancer and resist the urge to strangle each other in the process

i….am honstly not really sure??? i kinda wanna say teacher mira and single parent lukas because i feel the best way for that au to work is if the single parent has a lil’ ‘un and….i can’t imagine lukas doing well with a classroom of little kids….also just imagine lukas coming to pick up his lil adopted child from kindergarten or daycare and coming face to face with a very frazzled mira who just stopped another kid from eating all the crayons

mira is the writer and lukas absolutely tears her drafts apart so much that she actually kind of thinks he hates her??? like wtf man???? but he pushes her so hard because he knows she’s a good writer but the only way she’ll be a great writer is if he keeps pushing her to do better

goin’ with valko/grisha (because i’m in a mood™) and mira/lukas because....that keaton henson post just punched me in the feelings

1. What are things they both find funny?

valko/grisha: at present i don’t think there’s anything the two of them would both find funny....but back in the day i think they both would laugh at the misfortune of rich people. grisha because he just found their misery enjoyable to watch and valko because he liked seeing the people who he sees as having screwed him and his family over after coming to the city getting knocked down a peg. .... and i’m sure they’ve had that “both of them break out into a fit of laughter after a rush of adrenaline” thing. 

mira/lukas: god....i feel like they both have a kind of childish sense of humor? and lukas would hate that he finds childish things funny. like....i can defs see mira doing that thing where she mimics someone by repeating what they said in a funny voice/making a funny face and lukas has to do his damned hardest not to snort or smile.

6. What is/are their love language(s)?

valko/grisha: valko’s love languages are primarily acts of service/devotion and physical touch. i firmly believe that he is the only person who grisha would let casually touch him....not that very many people other than valko wanted to anyway. grisha’s a scary dude. and....grisha doesn’t have a love language. i think he’s able to assess what he needs to do in order to keep valko under his thumb and mimic the actions and emotions to do that.

mira/lukas: i feel like words of affirmation and quality time are probably lukas’ love languages. can’t really speak for mira’s because she isn’t my character

20. What is a promise they have made to each other?

valko/grisha: oh man....well it’s valko who’s making the promises. he promised that he’d remain by grisha’s side until he died. he promised that they’d get out of their shit hole of a situation, that they’d make it big in the thieves guild, that they wouldn’t end up like some of the older members of the guild (grouchy and at each other’s throats), and he promised that the two of them would always have each other’s backs. and grisha would answer these promises in ways to lead valko to believe that he committed to them as well, but i don’t think the words “i promise” crossed grisha’s lips very often. ....those promises were ultimately broken

mira/lukas: oh ho ho hoooooo lukas definitely makes mira a promise that “for as long as i am by your side, i will not let anything bad happen to you.” and i’m sure at some point mira makes an equally heavy promise.

1. Who is the most affectionate?

m+l: my first instinct is to say mira but she’s just more…loud? about it? like lukas is affectionate in his own way but it’s a lot more muted than mira’s.

v+o: again i feel like they’d both be affectionate towards each other but in different ways. idk what oliver’s love language is, but i look forward to the day where valko is able to engage in casual touching without feeling like he’s imposing himself on someone. 

6. What is their favorite feature of their partner’s?

m+l: can’t really speak for mira since she isn’t my oc, but lukas’ favorite thing about mira is her conviction....also he thinks that the fact she’s so short is absolutely adorable

v+o: and i can’t speak for oliver (since i’m not playing him and also because it is still very early in their canon relationship so idk), but valko’s fave things about oliver would be his kindness, compassion, and patience….my god that man has the patience of the saint someone get him something nice and tell him he’s appreciated and thank him for his hard work…..

12. Who initiates kisses?

m+l: god once they’re together i think they both freely initiate kisses equally.

v+o: i feel like it depends on where they are. i feel in public valko would be the one more likely to initiate kisses (or any kind of affection really), but in private oliver is more than willing to express his affections

17. Who says I love you first?

m+l: i think it’s lukas….i’m pretty sure it’s lukas. these two have a weird history….but i’m pretty sure that in the end it’s always lukas.

v+o: hasn’t happened yet but i feel like it’s going to have to be valko. he needs to let go of grisha first. and then he needs to learn how to let himself love someone else again and even more importantly, learn how to let himself be loved. he needs to move on from his previous “relationship” before pursuing another one and tbh, i don’t think oliver would make a move until valko signified that he was ready. 

21. Who is more likely to start dancing with the other?

m+l: MIRA. MIRA MOST DEFINITELY. PLEASE REFER TO MY ANSWER FOR THE NEXT QUESTION

v+o: i’m really not sure i could see the invitation going either way in situations similar to the winter palace in da:i, wherein one of them takes a step outside for a breather, the other follows n then they end up dancing there. like i could imagine either one of them inviting the other to dance in a situation like that. alternately it’s one of those things that just kind of…happens….like they’re just hugging or whatever n then they start swaying n end up kind of slow dancing that way.

26. What would be their theme song?

m+l: it’s either shut up an dance with me by walk the moon or iris by the goo goo dolls….

v+o: too soon to say but right now golden by lady antebellum feels right
