ahhhhh thank you! going with valko/oliver (even tho it isn’t canon...yet....) because i’m in a mood and want valko to be happy and loved | otp questions

1. Who is the happy morning person and who is grumpy and just wants to go back to bed?

of the two of them i think oliver is the one who wakes up early in the morning on a more regular basis. idk if he’s a happy morning person per se but he tolerates mornings well enough. so i think valko is the one to be grumpier and more likely to want to go back to bed. but tbh i can see him maybe eventually enjoying waking up early to appreciate the sunrise

8. How did they try to impress one other before they were dating?

so they’re not dating yet, nor is that even a thing on either of their minds at the present but i do think they’re trying to impress each other....at least a little bit. oliver probs want to impress valko because valko is the champion of pelor and oliver is the head paladin of pelor so like....valko technically? outranks oliver. so...idk i guess he wants to be as good an adviser and paladin as he can be...essentially making sure valko sees his (and the pelorian warriors’) best face.  

meanwhile valko wants to make a good impression with oliver because like...oliver is the fucking head paladin of pelor this man must be like the most holy and pious and good. basically everything valko isn’t. so valko’s super conscious of his actions and words around oliver (and the other members of the pelorian order). he really doesn’t want to disappoint them

11. What is something small, but cute they do for one another? Ex - leave cute encouraging notes for one another on the counter.

god i’m really not sure. tbh they really haven’t had enough interaction to really determine that, but so far every actual conversation they’ve had with each other has had valko acknowledging and thanking oliver for his hard work so i guess just...casual words of affirmation? and so far oliver has always made time to talk to valko whenever he “calls” (via magic ring of sending) so i guess so far just being available to chat whenever valko needs to 

15. Who would give the other their jacket because it’s cold?

oliver would probably be the chivalrous one to lend a jacket but also he’s larger in stature (read as: more swole) than valko is. so like...he wouldn’t really fit in valko’s jacket if valko offered. 

BUT considering cloaks are more common and considering valko is probably more accustomed to colder climates than oliver probably is (valko who grew up in fantasy england and oliver who grew up in like...fantasy greece), i feel like valko would be the one more likely to forfeit his cloak and give it to oliver

1. Who is the most affectionate?

m+l: my first instinct is to say mira but she’s just more…loud? about it? like lukas is affectionate in his own way but it’s a lot more muted than mira’s.

v+o: again i feel like they’d both be affectionate towards each other but in different ways. idk what oliver’s love language is, but i look forward to the day where valko is able to engage in casual touching without feeling like he’s imposing himself on someone. 

6. What is their favorite feature of their partner’s?

m+l: can’t really speak for mira since she isn’t my oc, but lukas’ favorite thing about mira is her conviction....also he thinks that the fact she’s so short is absolutely adorable

v+o: and i can’t speak for oliver (since i’m not playing him and also because it is still very early in their canon relationship so idk), but valko’s fave things about oliver would be his kindness, compassion, and patience….my god that man has the patience of the saint someone get him something nice and tell him he’s appreciated and thank him for his hard work…..

12. Who initiates kisses?

m+l: god once they’re together i think they both freely initiate kisses equally.

v+o: i feel like it depends on where they are. i feel in public valko would be the one more likely to initiate kisses (or any kind of affection really), but in private oliver is more than willing to express his affections

17. Who says I love you first?

m+l: i think it’s lukas….i’m pretty sure it’s lukas. these two have a weird history….but i’m pretty sure that in the end it’s always lukas.

v+o: hasn’t happened yet but i feel like it’s going to have to be valko. he needs to let go of grisha first. and then he needs to learn how to let himself love someone else again and even more importantly, learn how to let himself be loved. he needs to move on from his previous “relationship” before pursuing another one and tbh, i don’t think oliver would make a move until valko signified that he was ready. 

21. Who is more likely to start dancing with the other?

m+l: MIRA. MIRA MOST DEFINITELY. PLEASE REFER TO MY ANSWER FOR THE NEXT QUESTION

v+o: i’m really not sure i could see the invitation going either way in situations similar to the winter palace in da:i, wherein one of them takes a step outside for a breather, the other follows n then they end up dancing there. like i could imagine either one of them inviting the other to dance in a situation like that. alternately it’s one of those things that just kind of…happens….like they’re just hugging or whatever n then they start swaying n end up kind of slow dancing that way.

26. What would be their theme song?

m+l: it’s either shut up an dance with me by walk the moon or iris by the goo goo dolls….

v+o: too soon to say but right now golden by lady antebellum feels right

Performer AU + Intimate Artistry/I Didn’t Mean to Turn You On 

valko used to be a dancer. he was pretty good too. unfortunately there was an accident that completely wrecked his knees. he recovered...but there’s no way he’s ever going to dance professionally ever again. which...honestly, he can live with. that’s fine. it’s the fact that his partner was severely injured during the same accident. and valko, blaming himself for everything, can’t bear to see his comatose partner, so he never visits. which only makes him feel worse about it tbh.

a few years pass and valko has “moved on.” which is to say he’s got himself a new job at the local humane society, but he still feels guilty over what happened and he hasn’t danced since the accident. 

faylen encourages him to get back into dancing. “Even if it’s just in private. nobody has to see you,” she says. Begrudgingly he gives it a try. he goes to the local rec/community center and finds an empty studio. he does this for a few weeks, easing himself back into it. and he’s out of practice and there are certain moves that he can’t execute properly because of his knees, but it feels...good....to be dancing again. 

enter oliver, who runs the community/rec center. it’s getting close to closing one evening and he’s going around making sure that all the rooms that aren’t occupied have everything turned off. and he comes across the studio room valko is dancing in. normally he would have walked right past it, but he just sees valko moving with a grace and fluidity that he’s never seen before and he just sort of stops an stands in awe.

valko, when he notices this, is immediately embarrassed. because he knows all the mistakes he made in that set, felt ever single flaw in his performance. he’s self conscious because when people are watching, anything less than perfect is unacceptable. 

but oliver doesn’t see it that way. they talk for a little bit n valko reveals that he used to dance professionally but....doesn’t....anymore due to a knee injury. the truth but...not all of it. oliver asks if he’d be interested in maybe teaching a rec&ed introductory dance class. valko says he’d think about it.

faylen and eryk convince him to go for it. eryk had taught some introductory cooking classes at the rec center and he says it was a really good experience. so valko agrees and he talks to oliver about getting that set up, and an introductory dance class taught by valko fejes is put in the next season’s rec&ed catalog. 

and, tbh, the class is a pretty big success. it’s small and eryk manages to drag ovak into signing up, and faylen drags althaea along too. but laucien is there, and so is fury and a couple other people from around town sign up. and for every wednesday and friday for six weeks valko teaches people in town how to dance. 

throughout the course of these six weeks he and valko become friends n going so far as to go out for drinks on occasion. by the end of those six weeks oliver asks if valko would be interested in doing the whole dancing class thing again and if he’d be interested in doing a level 2 class for the next season. valko says yes, he would be interested. and so valko’s dancing classes are almost permanently on the rec&ed catalog year round. 

there’s one class period where valko’s teaching an intermediate class and oliver pops in to watch. turns out this class valko was focusing his students on partner dances. so naturally, valko invites oliver to join in. and considering there’s an even number of students in the class, of course oliver gets the wonderful privilege of partnering with valko. 

and to valko’s surprise, oliver isn’t too bad a dancer himself. and....they may have been showing the students simple steps, but there was a....connection....a chemistry between the two of them that valko hasn’t felt since before the accident. and it leaves him a little breathless, but he pushes past it to continue on with the class because he doesn’t have time for this right now. 

but he knows oliver felt it too. at least he hopes he did. 

a few days later oliver invites valko to dinner at his place. just the two of them. and valko agrees. and this time, they dance, and this time valko allows himself to be left breathless and for his shitty knees to go weak.
