Cerise's (My Self-Insert) First Day at Hope's Peak
Summary: A new student joins Class 78 and she is adjusting rather well.
“Everyone, we have a new student coming up here.”, the teacher told the rest of class 78, expression stoic and without much emotion on it. Mrs. Nagasaki embodied the stereotype of the apathetic teacher to a stunning and almost frighteningly accurate degree. Her blazer was messy and hasn’t been in the laundromat for at least a week, her hair was dark and short with a few strands of grey, showing the students how she was getting older and uglier and the lenses of her glasses were so white that you couldn’t even see her eyes. Not to mention the rectangle shape of those glasses, giving her an even more strict look.
For some reason, people associate softer shapes with softer things, whereas more rectangular and angular shapes were associated with less than soft things. Interesting, isn’t it?
Sayaka glanced up from her desk, as the door to the classroom opened and the rest of the class watched curiously, as someone began to enter their domain. A tall girl with tanned skin, broad shoulders and built was entering the class, her pink hoodie with the squirrel symbol matched by a dark red skirt with stockings, her nails painted pink and her orange-pink eyes seated behind a pair of glasses.
Her body language seemed somewhat stiff, as she entered the room and glanced around everyone, from Kiyotaka’s stern inspecting glance, to Chihiro and his laptop, and to Celeste’s striking appearance. The student also briefly glanced at Sakura for a split second, her eyes sparkling, before that cool and withdrawn gaze returned.
“Well then.”, Mrs. Nagasaki stated and crossed her arms, glancing at the student with an impatient foot tap. “Why don’t you tell us some information about yourself?”
“Hm? Oh..y..yes.”, the woman replied with a light chuckle, her voice a little deep and soft at once, as she turned to the rest of the class. “My name is Cerise Kafka. I was scouted by Hope’s Peak in Germany and was invited to come here, as the Ultimate Surreal Author.”
“U….Ulti..Ultimate su..surreal author?”, Toko asked aloud, her glasses shaking in bewilderment. “Wh..what is…that supposed to mean…?”
Cerise was about to speak up, but the teacher had no time for such pleasantries.
“Please get familiar with your classmates later, the lesson will start soon enough.”, she told her and the girl nodded, before sitting down way at the front. For someone so withdrawn, it was a little bit of a surprise that she would sit all the way at the front. Compared to Toko, who was sitting at the back of class, so she could stare at Byakuya’s ass.
Class went on with nothing eventful going on. The topic was about economy and Cerise did raise her hand a few times, her enthusiasm rising…as did the speed of her voice.
“Oh! The reason why companies don’t tell in their job postings, who they are is because they want to remain anonymousinordetoavoidtheircompetitorsnoticinganypotentialproblemsthecompanyisfacingand-”
“Kafka-san, please slow down. We are not on the Shikansen here.”, the teacher replied with a stoic expression, her twitching lips indicating annoyance. Cerise big smile dropped and she chuckled to herself awkwardly, as she glanced away.
“Oh…Umm…sorry….”
“Man Mukuro, we really got ourselves another Miss Monrose, only mixed with Sakura’s and Hina’s DNA.”, Junko commented with a smirk, as Mukuro nodded with no emotion and simple acknowledgment.
Sayaka and Celeste
The lesson went on for quite a bit and when break came, Cerise got up and walked towards the hallway to her new locker. As she did, Sayaka and Celeste approached the author casually.
“Hi! Welcome to Hope’s Peak.”, Sayaka greeted them and Cerise turned around and smiled back.
“Oh, heya…Sayaka Maizono, right?”, she asked in return and crossed her arms, her smile shaking. “I heard you’re quite the big popular figure here, yet I admit I have not listened to any of your songs yet. My apologies.”
“That’s okay. I just came here with Celeste, to say hello.”, the idol replied nonchalantly. “So..Surreal Author? So you’re a writer just like Toko?”
“T..Toko?”
“The other student with the glasses and the one with the brown hair.”, Celeste explained, her smile picture perfect as always. “My name is Celestia Ludenberg by the way. I am the Ultimate Gambler.”
“Oh..nice to meet you.”, Cerise answered with a nervous chuckle. “And well…I did hear that there was another writer in class….But this gal doesn’t seem to think that this Toko person is happy to see me. I mean..she’s frowning at me.”
“Ah, pardonez-nous. That is just how Toko is. She is not really social, nor in a good mood much. Well, except when she is admiring that Byakuya that is.”
“Oh..a shrinking violet kinda gal, huh.”, Cerise commented curiously, adjusting her own glasses. “Well…even so, I’d love to check out her writing every now and then. Ya know what she writes?”
“Mostly romance.”, Sayaka elaborated and then noticed Cerise’s smile dropping a little. “Umm..are you okay?”
“Hm? Oh yeah, don’t worry this gal is fine. Gotta say Celeste, it really is nice to also meet someone who’s from another country. Being the sole German gal would have been awkward.”
“Hehehe…it is quite alright.”, Celeste answered and covered her mouth, her smile charming and infectious. “My family had quite the long and noble history and I’ve grown up in Europe too. Especially in Munich. The landscape is charming, is it not?”
“Munich, huh…”
Cerise seemed to eye Celeste a little closely, before nodding.
“Umm, yeah. I guess you could say that. Although I am from the other state nearby, so I can’t really comment on that.”, Cerise replied and chuckled. “I do dig your aesthethics though…You’re so pretty.”
“Hm…Thank you. I always choose the best outfits for myself, as a person of high standards is expected to do.”, the gambler replied and placed her head on her fingers, her smile so sweet it’d give you tooth ache. “If you want, we can play a round of Poker, if you desire. What do you say?”
“Oh…I have to pass, I am not really good at gambling. Like at all, meow.”, Cerise commented sheepishly and plugged a few earbuds into her ear. “Ahem…Anyways, I gotta go now and get more acquainted with the campus. See you two later!”
“Bye!”, Sayaka replied and then watched, as the newbie walked off with uncertain, yet guarded steps. She turned to Celeste. “She seems nice, doesn’t she?”
“Indeed…Although I am curious why the school would admit a second writer into our own class.”, Celeste mused, before shaking her head with an amused sigh. “At the very least, she does seem to be in a better and more amiciable mood than our resident gloomy writer.”
“Celeste.”, Sayaka scolded her friend with a sigh, as she saw Cerise disappearing in the distance.
Sakura and Aoi
Cerise stepped into the gym, dressed in a pink top of her own with white shorts and approached the long barbell standing near the floor. As she was stretching herself, she gasped when Sakura and Aoi were approaching her.
“Hi! You’re the newbie, aren’t you? I am Aoi Asahina, the Ultimate Swimming Pro.”, Aoi greeted chipperly. “You’re a fan of the gym?”
“Hm? Y..Yes, you could say that.”, Cerise commented with a slight chuckle, her eyes darting to Sakura, who was giving the newcomer a stern look with warm eyes.
“We do hope that you will find it agreeable here, in our class. I am Sakura Ogami, the Ultimate Martial Artist.”, Sakura stated and then glanced at Cerise’s physique. “Your muscle mass is certainly noticeable.”
“Oh…Y..Yeah, I like lifting.”, Cerise replied awkwardly and flexed her own arm, her own cheeks reddening, as the mass stretched itself across her arm. “I…I am not really a professional athlete, but this gal does like big muscles…They are so hot, perfect and whenever I see them in the mirror I can’t help but-”
Cerise totally forgot for a moment that she was standing in front of two very confused athletes. As the two furrowed their brows in confusion, Cerise immediately gasped and shook her head.
“B…But, don’t worry! I am not that kind of gal, to be inappropriate..I mean, you are big Sakura and so are you Hina, but umm…I won’t do anything gross.”, she quickly said and moved her glasses up, as she tried to save herself. “If I do make you uncomfortable, you can just say so and I’ll-”
“It’s..quite alright.”, Sakura interrupted her gently, but firmly, her own cheeks reddening. “I do not mind you admiring my physique, as long as it is from a distance.”
“Yeah! There’s nothing wrong with appreciating a strong body.”, Aoi replied and playfully flexed her own toned arm, causing Cerise to blush a little. “Anyways! If you’re gonna workout anyway, how about you join us?”
“H..huh? Really?”
“I do not see why not. It is always more productive, to exercise together.”, Sakura stated calmly and Cerise chuckled to herself nervously.
“I mean..sure, why not. Just…I am not that strong. I mean I do train to be big, but I am not a professional athlete. Like, I am not the Ultimate Weightlifter or anything.”
“And I do not recall that this is of relevance.”, Sakura pointed out patiently. “Exercising is supposed to be for your health. You just need to follow your own pace, simply enough. Is that an issue?”
“O..Of course not. This gal would love to join you.”, Cerise beamed happily, much to Aoi’s delight.
“Yay! And after that, we’re gonna eat doughnuts!”
“Doughnuts? I love doughnuts!”
“Eating doughnuts after exercising isn’t really heal-”
But the two gals completely ignored Sakura and began to warm up. An amused sigh escaped the fighter’s lips, as she followed them. The three spent the rest of the afternoon with lifting weights.
Taka and Leon
“Yo, you’re the new chick aren’t you?”, Leon greeted Cerise, as she was sitting on the bench in the courtyard, sketching something in her notebook. She immediately put it away and turned to the two with a nervous grin.
“Ah…Aoi told me about you…Leon and Taka, right?”
“Indeed. And you are Cerise Kafka, as we have learned from your introduction in class.”, Taka stated matter-of-factly, causing Leon to roll his eyes.
“Umm…yeah, we all got that.”, he mused, before turning to the writer with a smirk. “Anyways…I was wondering, if you’d like to go out on a drink with me. I’ll pay.”
“A drink? But I don’t drink alcohol. And…I know we’re all like 18, but isn’t the drinking age 20?”
“She has a point.”, Taka realised and glared at Leon. “Underage drinking is not good and is against the law!”
“I was just gonna suggest some lemonade..”, Leon tried to save himself and shook his head, smirking down at Cerise. “What ya writing about?”
“Oh, just upcoming novel ideas.”, Cerise explained simply, adjusting her glasses. “My brain is constantly working hard, so this gal has to note it all down.”
“What a determined attitude….But your font does need some work, because I cannot read it.”, Taka pointed out with a frown, causing Cerise to pout annoyed.
“Sorry, okay? My font is ugly that’s what mama told me too. You’re rude Taka.”, Cerise stated with a playful pout, causing Taka to immediately walk back in horror.
“Oh my god, I am so sorry! I did not mean to offend you!”, he exclaimed guiltily, causing Cerise to flinch herself and turn to Leon bewildered. But the athlete just shrugged.
“Ignore him. He’s always like that.”, he explained to her and Cerise let out a sigh.
“Oh umm..Don’t worry Taka, this gal isn’t mad at you or anything.”, she quickly stated, before turning to Leon. “So umm..about the date thing, sorry but I gotta decline.”
“Huh?!”, Leon asked surprised and Cerise couldn’t help, but chuckle at his facial expression.
“Nothing personal, it’s just that this gal doesn’t really like romance. She is like a cat, you know. Free and without any boundaries. Independent, essentially.”
“I.. I see that’s fine too..”, Leon mumbled, his red face still gaining in tone, even if he sounded casual. “Well…it’s been nice to meet you. See ya…”
“See ya!”, Cerise replied obliviously, as Leon ran off. Taka rolled his eyes.
“Those manners…I shall get going too. Do not stay awake for too long and make sure that you change into your school uniform tomorrow.”
“Noted Takky!”, Cerise replied with a smirk and waved after him, as he left too.
Chihiro and Mondo
“Hi!”, Cerise greeted the duo, as she approached the stairs. “Chihiro and…Mondo, right?”
“Oh…hello Cerise.”, Chihiro greeted her, the programmer’s cheeks reddening. “What’s up?”
“Just wanted to get to know you two. You’re a programmer, right?”, she asked and he nodded.
“Yeah…I like programming a lot…But it’s not as exciting, as you may think…Well, aside from the Artificial Intelligence training..”
“You work on an AI?”, Cerise asked surprised with curiosity. “That’s so cool, meow!”
“Umm…why do you gotta meow?”, Mondo asked weirded out, as the biker crossed his arms at her.
“Because I am like a cat!”
“A furry?”
“Yes- Wait, no!”, Cerise quickly said and waved her hands in front of Mondo quickly. “Not a furry!…Ahem. But anyways…”
She pushed her glasses back down and seemed to calm down.
“So, you ride a bike. Is it fun?”
“Well…sure is. Cruising through the streets, enjoying the warmth…..Best feeling ever, especially at night.”, Mondo replied, grinning. “Ya should experience that.”
“Oh! Heh, well it does sound scary, but I am not opposed to it. As long as I get a cool leather jacket.”
“Deal.”, said Mondo and Cerise grinned content, as she noticed Chihiro staring up her arm. She turned to him and giggled. “Like what you see?”
She flexed her thick arm and for some reason, this caused Chihiro to shrink back a little.
“Oh…S..sorry, I didn’t mean to stare.”
“Don’t worry, I don’t mind.”, Cerise replied amused and relaxed her arm. “There’s nothing wrong with staring. You lift?”
“W..Well…Mondo is helping me..”
“Is he? Awesome!”, Cerise exclaimed happily and turned to Mondo again, giving him a thumbs-up. “You’re like, sooo based!”
“Umm…thanks?”, Mondo replied bewildered, not sure what to make of her. Just this morning when she first came, Cerise was withdrawn and socially awkward. But now she was suddenly extroverted?
Who was this girl?
“Heh! I can give you some pointers, if you’d like. Just ask me, Chi.”, Cerise stated, before turning around. “Sorry, but this gal gotta go. See you tomorrow!”
So, she skipped ahead and Chihiro found themselves waving after her too, as Mondo followed the gesture.
Hifumi and Yasuhiro
“Hey there, new girl.”, Hiro greeted Cerise, who was sitting at the table in the cafeteria, taking a bite out of her porridge. Putting her spoon back in the bowl, she faced the two ultimates with a smile.
“Evening. Yasuhiro and Hifumi, hm?”
“That’s right, Miss Kafka.”, Hifumi proclaimed with a smile. “I heard you are a writer yourself, as am I and I was curious to know what kind of works you do write.”
“Hm? Oh, usually stuff that makes you go ‘wtf did I just read.”, she explained casually. “My works usually focus on surrealism, horror, absurdism and well, bartenders.”
“Bartenders? You drink?”, Hiro asked excitedly, causing Cerise to shake her head amused.
“Nah, not really. But this gal did like that one scene of The Shining with Lloyd the Bartender and it stuck to her, ever since then.”
“I see, how interesting. If our professions are similar, perhaps we should collab.”, Hifumi suggested, with a scheming smirk. Cerise grinned excitely.
“Oh, that sounds fun! I’d love to write fanfics! Do you like Ace Attorney?”
“Indeed. I see you are a woman of culture, Miss Kafka. We shall work wonderfully in tandem!”
“Yay!”
And so, the two chatted a lot, as Hiro wondered why he suddenly felt like a third wheel.
Byakuya and Toko
“Hey! Toko and Bykuya, right?”, Cerise wondered aloud and the writing prodigy looked up from her book with a glare, as Byakuya glanced up too with an annoyed scowl.
“Wh..what do you w…want?”, she asked Cerise.
“I wanted to get to know, a fellow author! I mean, we are both writers, aren’t we?”
“Y…yeah….S..so? That..d..doesn’t mean we have to..b..be friends.”
“Certainly not.”, Cerise admitted and pushed her glassed down again, her body language becoming more firm. “But I am curious Toko. What kind of books do you write?”
“U..Urgh…romance….”, Toko explained and shook her head. “Not that a meathead like you, would know much about that….Your writing stuff is so w..weird…like the time where the protagonist wen..went on a pointless journey to g..get his intellivision back, only to die at the end.”
“Ooo, you read INTV Man?”, Cerise asked pleased, causing Toko to flinch and shake her head.
“D..don’t be ridiculous…I…..j..just heard of it..”
“Ah. Well, I’ll check out your books too. Writers do gotta support each other, hm?”
“Wh..whatever…N…now l..leave me and Master By..Byakuya alone..”
“Master…?”
“Ignore her ramblings.”, Byakuya stated coldly and firmly. “Now leave. I do not wish to associate myself with you.”
“Don’t worry, the feeling is mutual.”, Cerise commented dryly and walked towards the shelf. “I was just gonna pick something up….Hmm…The robbers….Yeah that will do. See ya.”
So, Cerise left too and Toko found herself being even more nervous that night. While Byakuya couldn’t care less.
Junko and Mukuro
“Oh, hi!”, Junko greeted Cerise, as the latter was strolling in the hallway. “Junko Enoshima, charmed I’m sure.”
“Hm? Oh hello Junko. This gal really likes your style.”, Cerise replied happily. “You’re so pretty.”
“Aww shucks, you’re making me blush. Ain’t she so nice, Mukuro?”, Junko asked aloud and elbowed her sister, who nodded slowly.
“Right….”
“Eh, ignore that smell killing machine.”, Junko commented without hesitation and leaned down. “I read some of your works. Dusteis, wasn’t it?”
“Huh? You..read?”, Cerise asked surprised and felt for some reason cold, as Junko was staring at her with those deep blue eyes.
“Mhm! Gotta say, the part where the protagonist smashed his face in and then plunged a beer bottle into his face was sooo fun. Really, it almost scared me a little.”, Junko rambled on, her smirk widening. “Really, your stories have style. Not what I’d expect from a gal like you, but hey. I’m not complaining.”
“Heh..thanks?”, Cerise asked awkwardly with a slight blush. “Well, you seem to get my style then. How bizarre and nonsensical this world is.”
“You bet! Really, I wouldn’t mind advertising your newest book in the near future! I think we can be great friends, right Mukuro?”, Junko asked and slapped the soldier’s ass, causing Cerise to wince but for Mukuro to simply nod without much emotion. Aside from a slight drool that is.
“Well, this gal will consider it. Thanks Junko.”, Cerise repliled and stretched herself. “Well…gotta head to my dorm. See you tomorrow!”
“See you bestie!”
Cerise walked away much quicker than she would have liked. This woman…something was off about her…something that made her feel weird.
Or maybe she just stared at Junko’s boobs for too long. What a pervy cherry.
As Junko processed all the information she could gather from this one conversation, humming to herself darkly and licking her lips.
Makoto and Kyoko
“Oh, guess our dorms are facing each other.”, Cerise greeted Kyoko, who pulled her hand back from the knob and nodded.
“Indeed.”
“So, you’re a detective?”
“That I am.”
“………You don’t like small talk?”
“No, not really.”, Kyoko replied simply, before opening the door again. “Goodnight.”
With that, she closed the door and Cerise waved after her.
“Good…night?”
“Don’t worry.”, Makoto said, as he stepped toward her. “Kyoko is a little distant, but she is not mean. Give her time to open up.”
“Heh, if ya say so. Say…you got into this school, thanks to the lottery?”
“Well..yeah. As the Ultimate Lucky Student, although I don’t think that’s much of an accomplishment.”, Makoto muttered with a sheepish smile, his finger darting to the edge of his mouth.
“Come on, no need to be flustered around me. I ain’t gonna bite you.”, Cerise replied playfully, the crickets outside playing a nice background tune. “I’m just a silly gal with a weird demeanor from Germany.”
“I mean…I guess? I just hope you’ll settle in nicely with the rest of the class. They can be a bit..”
“Eccentric? Like me?”
“….Essentially, yeah.”
“Hehe, I think I’ll be fine.”, Cerise replied calmly with a grin. “This gal can do a lot, ya know. She is tough…mostly.”
A dorky giggle escaped her mouth, as she turned to her own dorm.
“Anyways, sorry to cut our talk short, but this gal is tired. See ya tomorrow.
“Of course. Goodnight.”, Makoto replied with a smile and waved after her. Cerise entered her dorm room, her belongings scattered all over the place and pulled out her earplugs with a wince. She walked towards the wardrobe and changed out of her clothes and tried to not drool at her own reflection, before heading to the bathroom for a long, hot shower.
Once she was done, she lied down on her bed, turned on some wave sounds from her phone and stared at the ceiling.
This school was so loud….but maybe, just maybe, it wouldn’t be so bad. Maybe she could actually find friends for once and not be a disgusting piece of shit for a change…
Oh well.
Sleep eventually overtook her, with her rabbit plushie in hand.
