Sekhmet was a goddes sent by Ra in a form of a lion to punish humanity for its wrongdoings. She was driven by blood lust and could not be stopped. Jugs of beer and pomegranate juice were spilled in her path, staining it blood red. Tricked, the goddess then drank the “blood” and fell asleep for days, saving the human kind.
