The Super Bowl on Sunday was the third most-viewed in history, according to Nielsen. And that used to be the whole story.
Now it’s destined to be just another note in the Ratings Symphony Orchestra. That’s because this year, it became evident to all that many of us are not totally watching TV when we’re watching TV. Are we playing roll-the-ball with Rover or Tabby? Sure. Throwing popcorn at each other? Maybe. But most certainly we are fiddling with some other colorful, flat-screened device hooked up to the cloud without wires–while the Giants are hating to score the winning touchdown–or even while that bandaged-up guy on Downton Abbey claims to be the heir to a great fortune.
