Multi-Hyphenate
A multi-hyphenate is a person who pursues several different professions or roles simultaneously, often using hyphens to list them (e.g., actor-singer-director). Originating in the entertainment industry to describe people with diverse talents, this term now commonly refers to anyone building a "portfolio career" for increased security, variety, and income.
Key Aspects of a Multi-Hyphenate:
Definition & Origin: The term arose in the 1970s to describe individuals going beyond the "triple threat" (singing-dancing-acting). It denotes someone with multiple, often interrelated, skills.
Examples: A person might be a designer-photographer-entrepreneur or a writer-teacher-inventor. Famous examples include Solange (musician-performer-curator) and individuals like Jessica Alba or Rihanna, who operate as both performers and business mogul owners.
Benefits:
Multiple Income Streams: Enhances financial stability and security.
Reduced Boredom: Keeps work exciting by exercising different parts of the brain.
Creative Freedom: Allows individuals to build a life by design rather than default.
The rise of this lifestyle is frequently associated with personal branding and leveraging diverse skills in a modern, gig-oriented economy.
Hyphenate-Supreme, KEKE PALMER Readies The Release of Her Anticipated Album, "JUST KEKE" (Available Friday. June 20th)…
Baby listen here!!!! GOD is most certainly in the gifting business, and HE is giving us the ultimate gift in the new visual album, "JUST KEKE", from hyphenate-supreme, KEKE PALMER. The anticipated forthcoming album will be globally released this Friday, June 20th, 2025, via the Big Bosses Entertainment partnership with the SRG-ILS Group (Virgin Music Group/UMG). The full "JUST KEKE" visual album film will also premiere exclusively on Keke Palmer's digital network, KeyTV (@KeyTVNetwork) on Friday at 9:00 AM (PT) | 12:00pm (ET) and available on all digital platforms.
This Friday, KEKE PALMER will be releasing her most vulnerable album to date. The 13-track visual album unfolds like a musical diary-raw, real, and emotionally unfiltered. It reflects the major life-shifts Keke has experienced in the public eye. "JUST KEKE" was Executive produced by Keke Palmer and longtime friend, Grammy-nominated artist and songwriter, Tayla Parx.
“Just Keke" is the mark of a new era for me. An evolution of everything I had to be and become to survive and grow as a person and artist. It’s all about fragmentation and the path to integration. I created it with my best friend of 22 years, Tayla Parx—someone who knows me inside and out. This project is a raw, emotional journey of me facing myself, my love, my vulnerability, my relationships, and my truth. My hope is that it takes you to a place of remembrance," shares Keke.
Keke Palmer currently holds the #20th spot on the Billboard R&B charts, with her now Top 20 single, "125 Degrees." The hit single continues to dominate the airwaves and climbing the Billboard charts.
Following the release of "125 Degrees," the official first single from the "JUST KEKE," album was the no holds barred, "MY CONFESSION." "My Confession, I mean...yea. I don’t like to say much, but music for me is a way to express myself and the things I need to get out, but don’t always want to say, but will sing." Originally written and produced by Bryan-Michael Cox, Jermaine Dupri and Usher Raymond. The new interpretation of the classic is written by Tayla Parx, Kameron Glasperand Keke Palmer and produced by Jeia, Albin Tengblad and Tayla Parx. The smash song was immediately followed by the release of "OFF SCRIPT." "This was one of the first songs we sat down and wrote. For me it exemplifies my life in an ironic way. I’m a Virgo, and I’m an actress. Everything has form but I hit a point in my life where I was forced to embrace things as they happened. That’s what this song timestamps for me," adds Keke.
