imo the entire handling of the situation really is the worst part abt this. @scatteredhq i get it sucks when anons don't come off anon when u want to have a discussion about these things, but this answer was. not it

if someone claims your group is not playing enough dark-skinned poc.. to bring up the "erasure of other underrepresented poc" is just ridiculous 2 me. if someone is talking to you about you playing a lot of light-skinned pocs, at least take them seriously and don't dismiss that by bringing up a different issue

+ to bring up tokenism and "quotas" when being told to be more diverse? HUH? pushing for a group to be diverse is not a conversation about tokenism. if your first thought about someone asking for more representation is tokenism? you're missing the point. yes, making a character diverse jus so anons stop bothering you is tokenism because you don't actually care abt writing diverse characters, you care abt shutting anons up. representation has to go beyond just apps and a faceclaim change. you have to actually integrate their culture and ethnicity into their character - THAT'S representation.

and while the anon saying "oh you're the least diverse group" probably isn't accurate as far as mfrp goes bc i've seen some REAL cis white groups in my time, maybe don't try to divert the topic from yourself? just looks bad

(also some additional notes: hailee steinfeld supports the IDF, someone is using forrest goodluck when seth clearwater is from the quileute tribe, and also some people have gender on their apps and some don't? weird)

Do you have any ideas on good diversity rules to put in place for a multifandom group? I just recently ran one and I would constantly give potential members or members who asked for fc suggestions lots of people of color to choose from with maybe one or two white people mixed in and they'd always go for the one white fc I chose in a list of twenty people of color and it seemed like everytime I'd suggest using a poc they'd always go for the whites and it was extremely frustrating

i'll be honest with you: i have no idea why typical diversity rules wouldn't be able to be used in multifandoms. because this is exactly what i mean when i say that white people are the default, even in the rpc. shit like this happens, constantly, and it's so annoying as someone who has helped provide people in mfrp with faceclaims only for them to choose the cis white way out.

i think mfrp could strongly benefit from the rule that every additional character you bring must be a person of colour, whether that's playing a canon character of colour or making a character be a character of colour - and then following characters must continue to be diverse (whether that's through making them non-cis, body diverse, neurodivergent, a muse with a disability or an older muse) while still ensuring there's a 1-1 ratio that muns must ensure that AT LEAST half of their muses are people of colour.

again, not just this, but also ensuring that the muns actually do write them as diverse characters and not just using diverse faceclaims or saying they're diverse on the app to bypass the rule. really hone in as an admin and ensure each character is properly being represented appropriately. if you have any concerns about how a character is being portrayed, say something and correct the behaviour.

i would say just be cautious as well: avoid making characters who benefit from white privilege (or have their narrative and other narratives hinge on their whiteness) be poc + muns should not be writing about things they have no audacity to write about (i.e. poc struggles, non-cis struggles, etc)

honestly i think it's a little sickening that even everwell (bee, snags, raven) took accountability for their wrong doing and are saying that they're going to change and reflect. while havenfell has closed their askbox, taken everything down from their main, and decided to become a discord only group with the current members (and the friend's of members) so they don't have to hear or respond to criticism.

that’s the sad part, i think. you can either accept the criticism and try to better the situation, or you can shut everything down completely. and maybe they are doing that behind closed doors! but it is unfortunate.

i know multiple people have left havenfall, including myself. i won't speak to anyone else's reasoning but i saw those things that were being called out in the asks. it's not untrue. i had concerns about them and they were validated by the ( what i can only assume to be) multiple people sending in messages about things going on in the group. i would have left anyways, because things were making me uncomfortable (including stuff not on this blog), but this page gave me courage.

Memory loss multifandoms are so boring now, do you have any plots you'd like to see? I'm currently thinking about opening one but I don't want to stick to a basic memory loss plot

i feel like memory loss plots have been the only thing around for a long time!

i personally think that an apocalyptic or survival style group would be extremely fun. i don’t know what the logistics would be, since i know a lot of groups run on text messages rather than paras lately. i think if it could be figured out though, it would be lots of fun.

groups closing is 100% the goal. don't get me wrong, i'm in full support of holding people accountable, but people like you also need to accept what you're doing here. and im going to say it again so hopefully, you don't take my words the wrong way, i agree with it, i'm on your side. there are so many shitty people in the rpc, but we gotta real here too. we owe people that transparency here. especially since we see it time and time again. every time a blog like yours pops up to drag a bunch of groups, they say it's not to get people to close groups.... yet we all know good and well that that's what happens EVERY time. so my question is... how effective are these call-out blogs if you all keep preaching the same thing about how your end goal isn't to get groups to close? you see it happen, you know it happens. so why BS it and say that's not the point of this? because if it really is about accountability, then we'd be searching for other forms of holding people accountable, no? since this continues to happen and all that ever happens when a call-out blog pops up, is groups closing. which yes, is fine - shitty people shouldn't be hanging out around here. but it's not exactly fixing the problem...

i understand what you’re saying here, but i do want to make it clear that my intentions are never to get a group to close down. that may be the case with some rpt blogs, but i want those involved in the problem to become aware, and make the efforts to change and better their group. of course, a lot of admins will just close the group to get away from the “gossip” or the “drama”, but i’ve never posted something thinking “jee, i hope this group shuts down!” when bad things are going on within a group (like we saw with everwell) it’s probably best for them to close, yes. when a group is overrun with muns like that who like to write problematic things and there’s no way to control that? yes, for sure closing the group is probably the best option. with groups like havenfall though, when the main issue was that they were allowing barely legal faceclaims, and members were concerned about role hogging but didn’t want to bring it up directly to admins, that’s never posted with intention to get the group “cancelled” or to get them to close. the point of bringing attention to the problem is for the problem to get solved.

if there’s a better way for people the become aware of what’s going on in groups, for admins to be held accountable, and for members to feel they can voice their concerns safely: i would love to help out there too.
