Dieme - redesign
Reason Why I Stopped Working On Multimanic
Before I start, I still technically am working on it. I'm refining the story and finding plot holes to fix. What I'm talking about is the comic because I only did do the first page. I have several reasons I would like to present to you today, and I'll be posting them in the order of which transitions best.
Style
For beginners, way back when I was first starting Multimanic, my art was pretty bad. Sure the style was mildly consistent, but the line art was no where near refined enough for a comic and I didn't even do proper shading. If I had bothered to keep working on it, the style would have changed a great deal, and the first page would deter readers from wanting to read more based on the art alone.
Dialogue
Moving on to something else that would deter readers, the dialogue choices. See, I've always been absolutely terrible with words. I cannot form a proper sentence without tripping up or seeming so awkward that it feels as though I've never socialized before. When I was starting Multimanic, the same applied to my writing. In no way was I fit to write at the time, well write dialogue at least. It would come out sounding weird, clustered and there was normally no context.
"Feel" of the Story
When I was younger, I thought having no context is funny. No, that's not always right. Even more so when you have no clue who the characters are yet. I tried to insert jokes into the first page of the comic, which is a bad choice considering it's supposed to be a very serious series. It doesn't make much sense to add random jokes in unless they fit the situation and fit the comic.
Other Projects
A while after I took a break and tried to approach it another way, a way that was less cringe worthy, I started working on other stories. I don't really have time to focus on Multimanic at the moment. I have other series to work on like SCARED or End Our World and the True Tower series! True Tower is something I'm going to start as soon as summer break hits since it's gonna be a fun side comic with action in it for me to write. I'm working on the SCARED series once winter break hits then on EOW. Multimanic isn't a priority anymore since my heart isn't in that series at the time. I'll work on it again one day, but not any time soon.
So basically, here's the run down. I've grown a more consistent style and have the ability to draw something in a more comic book style now, I needed to refine my writing skills, and I'm working on other projects. I know it's nor exactly optimal for those who want to hear more about Multimanic, but I'm willing to answer questions about it and the characters involved. I just won't be working on the comic for a while.
Small little thing that came to my mind.
Kat stared down at the treat her mom had prepared for her, some happiness shining in her eyes. She knew she couldn’t eat normal food, but maybe her mom had put something in it so she could? Her vampire slits for eyes began to show hunger. She hadn’t eaten for days. She took a small bite and swallowed. The cold treat sending shivers down her spine as she took in the aftermath of the delectable treat. It’s sweet taste making her smile all the while. Then she felt a pain in her stomach. No.. The treat had made her began to vomit, not only her blood but her guts. The pain was excruciating as she felt herself die. The feeling of blood and guts sliding out of her instead of in felt more disgusting. She was used to the opposite happening, and even if the act felt horrible, she still did it. As she felt her final moments approach, she reached for the reset button, clicked it… nothing.. the trickster virus took away her ability to reset. Squishy was walking around and looking for her love. But she was nowhere to be found. "Kat!" She cried. No response. Fear began to take over her being. No... she ran into the kitchen, somewhere Kat never venture. But there she was. On the ground, lifeless. Squishy fell to her mist knees beside her love, and mourned. Squishy is open for questions.
I finalized some of Kat’s designs! The first is her full body normal The second is her uh- well you’ll have to wait to learn more about that~
