Maura knew she had been much more closed of lately than was usual of her, though despite her efforts she couldn’t seem to stop. She knew she needed to take her focus off of Jane, it was never going to happen. As she was leaving work that day, she considered for a brief moment asking Jane if she wanted to get dinner, but quickly stopped herself, simply giving her friend a quick “I’ll see you tomorrow” instead, the words coming out a little more coldly than she had intended them to.
After getting in her car, she made up her mind, driving straight to the bar she had located some time ago but hadn’t worked up the nerve to actually go to. She parked her car outside, simply sitting there for a moment before getting out and going inside, eyes scanning the room for a moment before she made her way straight to the bar and sat on one of the tall stools, ordering a drink and sipping slowly at it as her eyes slowly scanned the room.
