Inquisition companions reacting to a pregnant inquisitor going into labor? RI included.
Before anyone goes off about “mpreg”– men can have a uterus and get pregnant. Your reproductive organs do not decide your gender. I am not taking any transphobic bullshit.
Cassandra: Tries to stay calm while she shouts at someone, whoever’s closest by, to go get the healer. In the meanwhile, she takes their hand and tries to soothe them as best she can as the contractions come. If Romanced: He’s about to crush her hand, but Cassandra doesn’t care. So long as she can soothe him at all, she’ll be happy.
Iron Bull: “This is not my job!” he screams. “This is the exact opposite of my job!” Still, he picks them up and hauls ass to the healer. If Romanced: “Come on, Kadan, just a little more,” he urges, squeezing their hand, “you’re the toughest person I know. You show that little fucker who’s boss!”
Blackwall: He starts following the orders of whoever is nearby. If no one is, he bolts for the healer and then heads off to round up water and towels. He drops them off and asks if anything else is needed, then leaves and hopes for the best. If Romanced: It’s hard for him not to panic. At one point, in-between contractions, he keeps repeating “everything is okay”, and she tells him that she’s convinced. He tells her he’s saying it for himself at this point. He’s not sure what sort of father he’ll be, but he vows to be the best he can.
Sera: Runs, screaming, to the closest healer for help, then comes back with said healer and leaves the healer to it, staying close by but not actually in the room. If Romanced: Screams at someone else to get the healer and stays by her lover the whole time, squeezing her hand. “Just a little more!” she encourages. “A little more and we’ll both be mums! Both of us!”
Cole: If someone is there to get the healer, he stays with the Inquisitor and does his best to comfort them and soothe the pain with whatever’s available. If someone isn’t, he disappears to get the healer and has someone run up to keep them company while he’s away.
Varric: This really is not his job. He doesn’t know the first thing about childbirth, really, but he tries not to panic and has someone fetch the healer. He first tries telling them stories, relaxing ones, but they eventually scream at him to shut up. He does so immediately.
Vivienne: She immediately starts giving out orders. She orders someone to get the healer, orders someone else to get a big bucket of water (maybe two), and another to get as many towels as possible on-hand. She has someone close to the Inquisitor keep them company while she continues handing out orders, and steps away once the healer comes, but stays close by in case her magic is needed.
Dorian: Curses to himself. He asks someone to get the healer and tries his best to cast pain-relieving spells on the Inquisitor, and he tries to say something to calm them down. He offers to stay, if it reassures them to have a friend nearby. If Romanced: Curses. Loudly. A lot. He starts yelling at anyone near by to get help, and allows his lover to squeeze his hand, no matter how much Dorian winces in pain.
Solas: Immediately starts casting pain-mitigating spells and orders around whoever is nearby so fiercely that no one thinks twice– they do as he orders. If Romanced: It’s hard to focus on anything but his lover, and his heart is beating out of his chest. He’s doing everything he can to soothe the pain, and takes her curses and any vitriol born of pain without complaint. He feels a little guilty, but excited for the newborn.
Leliana: Has the healer step in and has scouts keep an eye out for anything suspicious who looks like they might try to bother the Inquisitor. She drops by after the baby is born, offering congratulations and several gifts.
Josephine: She’s trying her hardest to stay composed, but it’s hard among the shouting and panicking. She does whatever she has to to make sure the Inquisitor is being treated by the best, and tries to go about her business as usual to maintain an air of calm. She does, however, drop by with many gifts for the parent and child alike later on. If Romanced: She is nervous, but there for her lover no matter what happens. She clutches their hand in reassurance and stays as long as it takes, and then after to be with her lover and newborn.
Cullen: Has the healers step in and wishes them luck. He’s not really familiar or comfortable with this. If Romanced: He refuses to leave her side– nothing could tear him away from her. His head is abuzz with thoughts upon thoughts and concerns mounting, but he tries to focus on the moment to do whatever he can to help her.
